What are you keeping your 5ish ft boas in?
I recently traded for 3 new boas, 1 of which is small, the others are pushing the 5 ft mark and idk what to keep them in really. Currently i have them in tubs that are pry 4 x 1 1/2. Is that okay? Im kinda new to the boa thing and have two new really pretty guys I'd love to keep healthy lol

ill post pictures of them tomorrow

I keep mine in boaphile cages. 4' x 2' x 1'H. I'd love to have higher cages though so they could climb.

    Boaphile Plastics
    PVC cages
    Animal Plastics
    Proline cages

    Do some web searchs.

I was looking at the Boaphile 421D, a buddy is selling one for even cheaper than the pretty low new price tag...Is the low height really an issue?

I don't think height is a health concern.

But if a BCI, BCC, or simular boa is given a chance they will climb around and perch up in some branches or on some ledges. I think it is good for them to get some exercise.

Another option is the VE-175 tub. I am considering this because I kind of like the top access. Although not as attractive as the PVC and Melamine cages, I think access and cleaning would be easier. I still have a few more months to think about it...

Would you need to add extra locks?

I would probably use luggage straps to hold the lids down. Thats what I use on my current tubs...

If you want to give them room to climb then you could always get a nice big hard plastic cabinet or a refrigerator, then put glass/plexiglass sections on the doors. Or even just make your own enclosure out of wood.

Just throwing some ideas out there.

Vinyl straps and clips which you can get at Walmart for a couple bucks. Its what I used to keep the lid on all my tanks.

so will a full grown adult RTB do well in the 421 boaphile boxes or are those too small?

and when would it be "okay" to move to that size enclosure?

They will do fine in a 4x2x1 cage. I have Reptile Basics and Repti-Racks 4x2x1 cages. Both work great, although Reptile Basics are a little better quality. I use 80 watt radiant heat panels from Reptile Basics to heat my cages.
