which are the best looking pastels?
best looking means (for me) they should be very bright, hold their color into adulthood, should be "clean"...

i saw bees that are super clean- even as adults. now i wanna know- which pastels are the best?

    lemon
    blonde
    bell
    graziani
    enchi
(dont know if its a line) bakers epic pastels

thats the pastel in my mind right now. if u know others and think they are the best- post it

Re: which are the best looking pastels?
enchi isn't the type of pastel your looking for, its a different morph. i believe epic is also, but im not 100% sure on that one.

and your answer is going to be, you have to look at the animal your buying, doesn't matter what line it is, or if it doesn't have a line at all. line is just a label, their all pastel and all lines have great looking animals and subpar animals. after seeing hundreds of pastels, I cannot say any line is better than another.

you want it to have the best chance of being bright yellow adult, buy a bright yellow baby and hope it holds it color. bout all you can do. focus on the animal your buying not the label put on it.

Here's a male I produced in '08, taken at 1 year of age and over 500 grams.

    http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r...9-June30-1.jpg

    He hasn't changed much.

I think he's pretty good. What kind of pastel is he? Mine, I guess. I produced him from a normal female and a male I purchased from Eden Snakes.

ah another german here- love ur blackboas (espacially the first generation- the other look more like leopards- i know that they are no leopards)- anyways,

now, im sure ill go for the lemons

whats that for a morph next to the lemon?

edit: ah i see- very cool!!! love that citrus and espacially the extrem

do u know for how much they go for in germany (the citrus)

edit- man now im not so sure- i like ur citrus and extrem citrus even more- they are super cool!!!

is the extrem just a very extrem citrus or is that the super form of the citrus pastel?

I have a question for you. Will you eventually change out your pastel for a super? If so you may want to check out which supers you like best. I prefer the graziani line supers because of their extreme blushing. Which is why I try to work with graziani line pastels. Also with selective breeding you can lessen the browning that happens as they age.

both is for me importent. but for the start im interrested in normal pastels

but u gave me a good point to think about- the super forms are importend too.

but till now, ive never seen a super that i didnt like

heres the "super duper pastel" from marcus janye (ballpythons.ca)

    http://www.ballpythons.ca/collection...tel_pic_2.html

idk which line that is, but i dig it alot!

edit- ive just read about it- its a graziani line super pastel- yeah no i know what ure talkin bout!!!!!!!!!

but the normal grazianis dont look so good and loose their color- at least the animals that i saw...

Shoot him an email and ask him. I have a graziani pastel that Greg said was a super duper (basically just means a really nice, very light super). As soon as I get a cord for this stinking camera I will post it for you.

Totally agree.. that's why I'm working with both Lemons and the Grazani line Jungle.. because the super jungles just scream with that blushing..

i dig them alot- thats a cool bee- high white and nice yellow on the sides

but he has a browned back also-

does that happend to all bees or are there bees that are completly yellow- just as most young bees- out there?

does someone know if marcus jayne has produced bees from that super graziani pastel?

or is that typicall for all bees and only the killerbees look like i want them?

cant remember that ive seen a adult killerbee. have tons of pics of young killerbess, but not 1 from an adult...

probably is selektiv breeding the most rewarding way to produce super clean, super bright pastels, super pastels, bees, killer bees...

I'm working on the purchase of a new female pastel - but I won't post a link to her picture until the puchase is complete (don't want anyone buying her out from under me). It's the first pastel I've seen in awhile that I've wanted to buy outside of my lemons. Ed's (Freakie_Frog) lemon pastel that he posted above was the first lemon pastel that I produced and released.

If you were looking for good pastels, I'd mention Rabernet's offspring of her male lemon. His coloring is amazing, and all of his offspring (That I've seen pictures of) seem to hold their color the same. If I were to get another pastel, I'd wait for her to hatch one myself.

It's ironic that Payson posted about Garrick, because THAT'S where I just purchased a beautiful female pastel. She was $100 more than all the other females, but I live by my signature. I'm willing to pay for quality.

This is the female I alluded to earlier in the thread - photo posted with permission from Garrick:

Here is one of my pastels:

This is Banana. Not sure what line she is, but I call her a 'blond' pastel. No brilliant yellows here, but she is bright and has very little fading. First picture is of her at 1800 grams and ovulating, second is an older picture at around 1400 grams:

its a really nice pastel- super clean and bright. thats the sort of pastel im looking for. the super pastel postet behind this photo was sick too- love it.

so much great pastels, bees and super pastels here

thank u guys. i really could make me a picture of what i am looking for.

would like to see an adult killerbee- if someone have one or has a good pic, post it!!!

and thanks for the tip with royal constrictor designes- he has some awesome pastels there and (the first time i saw one for sale) a crystal (for 3750$)- i always thought they were "insider" snakes and not availeble for us normal breeders- and i thought they were priced in the 20k range...lol

i would love to order a pastel from there, but as i said- im in germany (thats why my english isnt always on point)- and the transport costs, plus the double taxes, would blow out my moneybag for sure!

for one snake it would just be to much...

a 900$ snake would cost about 1500€- (plus the euro is very week these days) and thats way more than here in germany- plus- we have beautiful pastels and supers here too.

importing is rewarding, when u order snakes for a couple of ten thousand dollars. we have some ppl here which import for living- as job

A pastel is a pastel is a pastel of a pastel 'tis the pastel of another pastel's pastel pastels.

Basically, all the lines mean hooey to me. I've seen good and bad examples of every line. I'm looking for an individual animal that strikes me as special, despite its lineage.
