Quick opinion on a possible pickup
Female pastel about 3ft not sure on weight, but guestimate about 700 grams. $100+ shipping. what do you all think? Let me know asap! I am just looking for a pastel for my spider to go with. Thanks!

The price seems fine, I'd want to know what it looks like though.

That is a very good deal. Normally, that is what males go for, roughly. Hopefully she doesn't have any hidden feeding or health issues...

Agree but they supposedly have no way of taking pics. $150 isn't much to lose if its not a pastel, but still, I don't like throwing away money if I don't have to. How easy is it to come across a female at this size for this price? If its fairly common, I won't bother with this one, I will wait. Thanks for your opinions

I know thats typically the rule, and if it were a large investment, I would be on the same page with you. But hey, high risk deals do one thing or the other, crash miserably, or return big. For a near breeding size female pastel, its seems like a pretty good deal, yet not too good to be true. And all I have to do is pay through PayPal and have them invoice me for specifically what she is. If she shows up as a normal, I just request a refund through PayPal, and since I didn't receive what I was charged for, I can get my money back fairly easily. I have dealt with things like that on there before. Just not with animals.

100 dollars for a pastel female around 700 grams, no pics. when a deal sounds too good to be true, it usually is. If I was going to buy it, all that you said would of sent a red flag up for me. good luck, you might need it!

sending me pics in the morning. Going to have a friend come take them and send them to me since they can't. I will feel it out then. Maybe I will even post the pics up here before I make my decision. Thanks everyone!

I have to agree with this. When they say that they have no way of taking photos, they are saying that:

    1) They have no cell phone with a camera (which is pretty much standard) or know somebody with one.

    2) They don't have any kind of digital or even a disposable 35mm camera where they could e-mail or send a photo via snail mail, or know anybody with one.

Yet, they are to be trusted to properly package and ship the snake from wherever. Suddenly, that deal smells funny, but you are the one who has to decide if the risk is worth it...

Story is young couple only guy is working baby on way so can't afford the extras. I don't care about sob stories or anything like that, but some are believable and some aren't. That seams feasible, but either way, I am having them send me pics tomorrow before I say yay or nay. Even if I did gamble, again, PayPal covers my money. Even if it didn't its only $150, not like I am springing for a lucy for $2000 on a whim.

    No picture

    No sale

    Hope everything works out

Though I find it odd that he lives in STL and your in New Mexico

SYR is down for shipping snakes, and I would HOPE that anyone who is FedEx certified (to make shipping this animal legal) would have a camera....

But I have been wrong before....

I will have to agree with everyone else on the guy not wanting to send pics.. If a deal is to good to be true it usually is....Just a thought.... You could find females that size for not much more money on a regualar basis...Did they tell you how old the animal is?

    PS
good to see some one else from NM on here

I'm from St. Louis, and I could look at it in person if you like. I know diddly about shipping snakes, but it's been hotter than you-know-where here lately, and I'd be worried if these people don't know what they are doing you are going to end up with a dead snake.

The ONLY way to ship right now is through FedEx, and FedEx won't ship live animals of any kind unless you are certified. If they start talking about UPS or USPS, run, don't walk, away from them.

I'm pretty sure I've seen the ad, since I'm on CL here a lot, but if you tell them you've got someone here to look it over, I'm willing to do it, see what they say.

I too think all the posts here are good advice. My only thought is why would you or anyone want to buy any snake without seeing it first? There are so many variations of a pastel. I would even want to see a normal before I would buy it. Good luck

Gale, thanks I haven't heard back from them yet today, guy said he is working and gets off late tonight. I will see if they are up for letting me have someone check it out local. If not, then obviously its not worth it. I will PM you my phone #, give me a call or text whenever you have the chance. Thanks!

To everyone else, thank you for your opinions. I am a stickler for saving money. I don't like to pay full price for anything, so I shop for deals, and as sad as it may sound, I try to find people who are less fortunate or in desperate need of money. I find college kids are a good place to pick up animals that need very minimal as far as care beyond normal, at very reasonable prices, because all they want is beer money. Since I don't drink, this is where all my beer money goes :D

Granted I do gamble a little by buying from people I don't know, aren't reputable, and have odd situations such as this (can't take pics), but the truth is, if it saves me money, I am up for it. I haven't been burned yet. I know it will happen eventually, but until then, I will keep doing what I do lol.

Do they have a Snake Keepers Anonymous? Maybe I need that and some gambling help who knows ;)
