Stop giving snakes names?

How big was your collection when you stopped naming your snakes?

1 snake.

I had over 50 at one time. The ONLY snakes that I did not name were babies I was selling. OTherwise, all my snakes have names.

I've always named my snakes, or any of the animals I've owned for that fact.

I stopped making it a major habbit after I would say.. 5 snakes? I still name some of them, if I pick up or hatch something new and its so awesome that I feel it needs a sweet name, then I name it :]

I treat them as pets, so they get names.

When I quite naming my snakes I have gotten big enough I am not enjoying my animals anymore and shouldnt be doing this still

I'm only at two now, and they both have or will have names...

Actually, the new addition is currently being named by the girlfriend, a tactic I am trying out (so far with great success) in order to make her accept another snake! :gj:

I name them all. It is easier for me to keep track of them by name instead of by number.

I have 12 right now, all but 1 have names (haven't thought of one for him yet). I will always name my snakes no matter how many I have!

when i turned 15, and had around 10 snakes.

Yeah, this. Also, half the fun of getting a new animal for me is giving it some ridiculous, slightly embarrassing name. Like Melvin. Or Noodle.

I got a red-eared slider when I was seven and named him Spike. That is the first and last reptile I have ever named.

I would name them, but they never come when I call, so I stopped.

That is unless bp06f1003 is considered a name.... :weirdface

At 4, but only because I didn't want to name my GTP until she was sexed. Now I've known shes a female for two months, but because we called her GTP for so long, we can't find a suitable name. She might just remain GTP.

I name all of the snakes I keep, and will be naming this year's hold backs as well. It's fun, and it's completely practical. It's easier to say "Hey, Nina's water bowl was low when I was doing feeding earlier, can you go refill it?", than it is to say "Hey, can you go check on DCM3422 for me?"

I mean, I can remember 'Nina' a lot more easily than 'DCM3422'. I'll definitely continue naming all of my animals as my collection grows (over 40 now).

I don't name my hatchlings for sale, but as soon as I make a definite decision to keep them, they get a name.
However, I do have a snake named '23', because we originally intended to sell him, and made a last-minute decision to hold him back after we saw how well his colors were holding...by that time, we were already used to talking about him and referring to him by his number, lol.

I've only got 5 snakes, but all of them have names and one has a first name and a last name, and one has a full title, a la knights of the round table style. I think it makes them much easier to remember! Of course, I also have printed out labels stuck to their tubs with their names, ages/approximate ages, dates when i got them, sex, and other info. It's fun to name them, and I think much easier to remember them when you think of them by name rather than ID number. So--Matika, Draccy, Lara Croft, Basilica, and Sir Ulrich von Lichtenstein.

The next two I get are gonna be named Megatron and Optimus Prime.

My girlfriend's 4 year old nephew named my het pied that. It said on his feeding card his name was Cash, and that's what I stick to, but he's 4, so we indulge him. If he hadn't come with a name, it might be Optimus for real.

There's only two between the two of us and she likes to name them, but I just have no inspiration for it. I've always been terrible at naming things.

I name them all ... I only have 3 and technically only 2 are named but im attempting to name them all. The pastels name just hasnt come to me yet so im sure whats gonna happen with that. One of the i just found out is a female so i might rename her but im so used to saying buddy and him its really hard. The spider(arachnads) was extremely easy however and that will stick forever.

i plan to name all future snakes that i will keep too.

All of mine have names. Themed names even, but I only have 5 permanent residents. I don't name hatchlings unless I decide to keep them. Otherwise they get a number. I don't ever see myself switching over to numbers instead of names. Admittedly, I did have a male pastel named 'PB' because I called him Pastel Boy for so long. It fit though, especially when I picked up a male Mojo het hypo and named him 'J.'

have never named any... due to poor memory... due to advancing age! lol

thats a good idea make her feel apart of something. I guess i am lucky that mine loves em. She took hold of my female spider since day one...

I call my unsexed GTP the same thing.
