Almost lost my life

i just spent the night in the hospital after an off duty police offer decided to make a right from the middle lane and t bone the hummer i was in which led it to flip 4 or 5 times till it hit the guard rail. My knee is messed up, i smashed my head on the floor as the car flipped over and over again. I blacked out after my head hit the floor the first time. I was with two of my best friends and it was scary ass all hell. Heres a picture of me when i arrived at the ER.

WOW. Be greatful that you are able to type that message. I've seen worse outcomes from less accidents. You are very blessed. I wish you the speediest recovery.

You were a lucky one.

My uncle died March 09, 2010, after an accident in 2001. Yes, he spent nine years in pain and misery. He passed away only a few months ago, and was completely paraplegic ever since that accident. And this was caused by another driver driving drunk. Towards the end of my uncle's life, he could barely see out of any of his eyes, you couldn't understand a word that he was saying, and he had more bed sores and infections than days you have lived.

Be happy that you escape being able to walk and live :) Maybe you should report that police officer?

Just the other day, I had a police car allof a sudden want to cross the middle median on a separated highway, about 2 cars in front of me. The police car didn't put on his flashing siren lights or anything, just turned on his left turn signal in 70 mph traffic. It caused quite a disdurbance with me and several other drivers and as I passed I laid on my horn.

I hope you and your friends come out of this situation without any serious side effects. Keep us posted, we care!

Wow, glad you're not in worse condition! I bet that police officer is kicking himself right now.

If you don't mind me asking, were you wearing a seatbelt? I drive an old toyota and have an automatic seatbelt, but I'm really bad at putting the lap belt on. Something like that would scare me into making sure I put that thing on every time.

no seatbelt was worn. for me in the back seat, the two front seat passengers where wearing there seat belts. I was thrown all over the back of the car as it was rolling

Good luck healing, you were very lucky to have survived with no seat belt. If you had been thrown from the vehicle, you probably wouldn't be here.

can only say ouch and hopes for a speedy recovery as well as your buddies. I hope the hummer was not yours as Iheard they are now a disconitue vechile.

The closest thing I came that close with death was in my last job. We were 4 in one of those white commercial vans. The thing had caught on fire on the wheel by the gas tank, we didn't even know. Another car drove by and the guy was Screaming and pointing at us like crazy. It took a while for the shot gun guy to notice (it was on his side). But we finally did. This was in the middle of the Interstate during busy hours. We left the Van by one of the exits and ran for it! The fire compartment showed up and put it out before anything worse happened. I lost those pics though :oops:.

i was in the stretcher waiting to be seen by the dr in the er so u attempted to keep people updated on what was going on. youll notice a lot now that type and i add random words etc...the shot to the head was really bad

Oh my god! That's awful! I'm glad you're alright, but wow...I can't imagine how terrifying that must have been! :O

So what new snakes you gonna get from suing the police department?

The accident I was in that almost killed me would have if I had the lap belt on. The car I was in had automatic belts but I never put the lap belt on. If it had been on, my body would not have been able to move far enough to the right when I was hit and I would have most likely died. Pictures of the car show almost no room left in the drivers side. Its almost half a car. As it stands I only had many broken bones, artery, cartilidge and muscle damage but no organ damage. I wear my seatbelt all the time but I think in some cases it can cause more harm than not.

Glad you are still with us. In my area too, it seems lately the cops have been real a**les.
I've gotten pulled over three times in the past 3 weeks, not even 3 miles from my home all 3 times.....and the one time the officer told me I was talking on my cell phone, when I wasn't! He didn't give me a ticket (lucky for him) I wasn't even doing anything wrong..

hummer was all stock so no lift kit on it. The cop hit the back of the hummer so hard that it send the hummer sideways and the momentum sent the hummer flipping through the air. I got the worst of it from being in the back and getting thrown back and forth. After the first time it rolled i had smashed my face on the ground and it was lights out. Liz i will deff be wearing a seat belt from now on. I was so lucky to make it out alive and not get thrown from the car. I would also thank every for there support. It means a lot to me. When i blacked out hit my chest on something and the pain just woke me up. All the places i had glass in my are starting to really hurt. My girl was hysterical the whole time when they got the call from the hospital. the cop called today to check in and see how every1 one was but i hung up the phone. He was drinking at the time and i will make sure he looses his job and pays for everything for what he did. This was no accident this was a person behind the wheel of a deadly weapon driving reckless and almost killed 3 people. I cant wait for my lawyer to tear him apart.

That must have been horrible to go through, AND that guy is a cop which makes it even worse for him. Glad you are doing OK, I'd hate to imagine what it would be like going through that:O.

had i been able to walk after the crash i would have punched that cop right in the face. He broke like 4 laws took out a truck sent it flipping almost kid 3 people and has the nerve to come over and start talking smackHe didnt ask once how any of us were until today when my lawyers started filing a suit against him.

thank fully no. the hummer held up pretty damn good for what had happened. Before the side air bag went i smashed my head on the ground\window as it rolled. the other two had seat belts on so they just got cuts from glass and bad back pain. Its ok that cop has no clue whats coming to him. My father as well as one of the other kids fathers were both high ranking Nypd cops so if the cops try and right a report that is false and is only trying to cover there guys ass my Pops and friends Pops will tear them apart. I have many ties with the nypd so this guy is in really really big trouble. Hes lucky he dont have my number cause i woulda flipped out on him on the phone about his attitude and how he was more worried about yelling about somethign we werent doing then asking if we were alright.

might have a broken rib. im going to the doctor tomorrow to get all checked out. Physical therapy starts soon as well. only good thing to happen today was i a woke to a 3 egg clutch from a pastel x a normal.

they put no where in the police report that he was drinking but they were talking about it at the scene of the accident. so i dunno wither he was drunk or not but he was off duty and the police report says it was a head on crash where clearly the pics show it was hit from behind then flipped.
