Re: iPhone 4...oh...em...gee
They made some really solid improvements. The display is absolutely insane! Video recorded samples seem excellent, and they managed to improve battery which is impressive. Finally they used the A4 chip which works great in the iPad. I wish they made the screen a bit larger, but I'd take the super high resolution over bigger size. I'm picking one up for my gf at launch. I may hold out to compare to the Dell Streak. I want to know they are updating that to 2.2 anytime soon as they said they would. That's a 5" screen on that puppy with HDMI out and all of the high end goodies.
I need a wifi mobile hotspot to run my iPad so the iPhone may not be an option anyway. My Pre Plus does that job well, but you can do it with certain Android builds as well as Nokia Symbian devices. The nokia N8 is also gonna be a contender soon too.

Re: iPhone 4...oh...em...gee
As Apple always does there are still a few 'about time' new features with every new model.
About time the iphone had a decent camera with a flash... :)
Looks pretty nifty!

No flash support for iPhone or iPad. I was kinda worried about it, but its really not that big of a deal. Most people only care about it for watching embedded videos, but it seems most of the time people are using YouTube links and they play fine.

The 2 cameras (and FaceTime) and video editing seems nice, $5 for the app seems pricey for something that should have come with it though (iMovie). The battery life should be good and the processor is a good upgrade but honestly, that's about all I can see that is any "better" than Android.
For the first time I really believe Apple is playing catch-up, they are no longer king of the hill. The new iPhone is a solid looking device and will sell well but I'm not sure it will sell as well as it used to...partly because of AT&T's service but mostly because there are better alternatives out there (for those who actually look for one ;) ). If AT&T worked well in my area and if I was looking for a new phone I don't think the iPhone would do it for me now, too little too late.
There is good, healthy competition out there now, and that can only be a good thing for the consumer in the end.

YouTube - Steve Jobs iPhone 4 Demo Fail!!!
i love it when the guy yells verizon, personally - i dont think the wifi was the problem, more like a technical failure in the phone

Re: iPhone 4...oh...em...gee
You can't possibly think that he was having this conference and using faulty equipment. Most everyone in the audience was drawing off of the same wifi connection.

There is no way in hell that is how it was working. That would be .. stupid.
If it was the WiFi causing it, then it was more to do with the number of signals broadcasting than anything else.

Shouldn't have said 1.. But read this: http://www.pcworld.com/article/19820..._stevenote.htm
Not that I personally care who, how or what was connected, just thought it was interesting and funny at the same time.
People using the MiFi and others connected to the wi-fi that Steve was trying to use.

I'm no fanboy for any of these manufacturers. The high end Android devices, iPhones and WebOs devices all have their pros and cons.
Personal preference all the way:)

I wanted to show what the OS could do :P
But if it was Iphone 4g vs HTC Evo. Evo wins in my eyes.

Re: iPhone 4...oh...em...gee
I've had the iPhone 3G now for a few years and my only complaint is no flash support.. It's a big complaint though.
Some websites now are all flash, almost all games online are flash, and lots and lots of videos are flash. Better you tube video quality would be nice too.
I personally think I'd be kicking my self in the but if I came out with a new phone and didn't do the only consumer complaint.

Re: iPhone 4...oh...em...gee
No Flash support in the iPhone is a big deal. They completely don't get the importance of Flash on the internet today. Who cares about having 2 cameras? What real purpose does Facetime serve? Unless everyone has the new iphone it's a useless tool.
AT&T is also another BIG negative.
You keep on believing in old Steve O's hype. Apple is playing catch up now and maybe for some time now.

Preach Sister! I'm also a proud Droid Incredible owner. I was not that impressed with the announcement of the Iphone 4G - I was like - ok - my Incredible already does most all of that - and it plays Flash!
And Clementine, the EVO on Sprint is an Android phone with a front facing camera as well.

Re: iPhone 4...oh...em...gee
DROID FTW.
Im trying to wean myself off of my Blackberry, almost did it when the Droid Eris came out but stuck with the Curve waiting for the next big thing. Now that the Incredible is out, its just a matter of giving up the Blackberry, and thats really hard to do.

I think I was most impressed with the ability to have video calls with other iPhone 4 users. That's just cool. I mean ya I know I can do that online with a webcam n stuff but having it on a phone is just neato.
Also, the built in video editor is nice.

Hahaha! I've seen the light and it's far bigger than one manufacturer with cloned phones on one network (that drops calls), with an open source! :D
Seriously though, my neighbor who has an iPhone and I were at dinner last night and we were discussing my recent trip to NC and she says "so, you had coverage while you were visiting your folks?" I looked questioningly at her and said "yeah...I have coverage where-ever I go - I'm on Verizon" and she goes "oh yeah, I forgot - I'm on AT&T - I have lots of dead areas".
She can't wait for her contract to be up - she so ready to move to Verizon!

That!
A few months ago I drove from NY to see my sisters, one in VA and one in NC. I used my Moto Droid on Verizon to navigate the entire trip (Google/maps/navigation!!!) and make/receive calls. I never dropped a call or hit a dead zone, not once.
My son drove to his new summer job last month, from NY to TN. He navigated, made and received calls and had Pandora playing the entire trip. There were tornado warnings and bad storms along the way, he was able to pull up radar and keep up to date on the weather. He hit a dead zone once along the way. Once.
There is something to be said for Android, especially Android on Verizon!! Win/win :D

there is just an early upgrade fee something like $100 more on the phone and additional $18. i'm less than 1 year on my iphone and at&t gave me that option for early upgrade.
