    Cage Setup okay?
Just wondering if my cage setup okay for the size of the snake? I know I need to cover 3 of the sides and get another digital thermometer..but besides that how does everything look?

I would suggest getting another rock cave hide like the one you have and putting it on the other side of the tank and putting the water bowl in the center.

Also, your accurite probe goes right on the glass under the substrate where the UTH is, inside the enclosure.

other then that it looks good!

Are you using an Under Tank Heater, or is that lamp your primary heat source?

You might want to consider removing that white light from inside the tank...

I think that white light is a reflection of a lamp that's in the room...

You can see there is a red lamp right on top of the screen.

Yes, I see that. Vypyrz said "You might want to consider removing that white light from inside the tank..."

To which I responded about where I thought the white light was coming from. I could be wrong :P

Ah yes you are right. There is a reflection of a lamp and the reflection of the flash. Doesn't look like there is a white light at all.

given that there is a hot spot of around 90 degrees plus or minus a bit that looks much more than adequate. Ball pythons are extremely easy to care for

    Jessica,

Is your digital thermometer battery operated? I jus bought an Acu-Rite model #00613 and it needs a battery. I am concerned that the battery may explode/catch fire if placed under the basking light. Have you had any problems? Thanks so much for your help. Your snake is beautiful!

I know this wasn't directed toward me, but I have used Acurites for years with Bearded Dragons and had no problem. That being said, I always put the probe under the basking spot and the actual model itself on the cool side, but I have never had a complication.

well, if your basking light was hot enough to explode a battery then it is probably hot enough to cook whatever animal is in the enclosure.

So no. A basking light SHOULD NOT explode a battery...

I think the said up is good. But I prefer lower and longer tanks, BP's aren't much of climbers.

I would cover 3 sides for privacy, get rid of the useless round Frisbees stuck to the glass, place the accurite on the cool end to read that temperature and the probe snakes across to the uth under the hide(assuming you have a UTH) to read that temperature.
    Cute :snake:
