Morph in the wild!

I happened to look up about a week ago across my pond while I was walking to my snake building, and I saw something that was very bright. Upon further inspection, it looked like neon yellow on a log, and the reflection on the water looked like an image of the sun. Monica walked out on the dock to get a better look, and it slid in the water. The next day, it was back on the log, and an attempt to creep up on it resulted it in sliding in the water again. Later that day, I decided to try a shot (without a zoom lens, I don't have one) and this is the closest I could get before he slid in the water. My pond has since filled from the rain, and that log is underwater now, but I have seen it sun bathing on the opposite shore. I tried to walk around the pond, but he keeps dissapearing into the water when I get about 100 feet away. Hopefully soon, I will have enough time and stealth to get a better pic, but for now this is all I could get. I told Monica that it doesn't let me get close, and that is how a Yellew turtle (Albino) has lived long enough to get to adult size. That ghuy is about 8 inches long. Here is the pic

Nice, since he/she made it to breeding size maybe you will start seeing more of them in a few years. Is this a private pond on your property? Any idea what type of turtle it may be? RES, or something a little more rare? Maybe a cooter? Looks like it may have too high of a dome for a RES but it might just be the pic. What is really amazing to me is that the shell is not covered with alge. My RES pair are pretty green since going outside.

Seriously- that is just too cool. I'm really glad he is somewhere safe, and I think it's awesome. Hope you see a bunch of little yellow things one season! :)

It is a private pond on my property right in my front yard. I too was a bit amazed at the lack of algae on the shell. I feed my fish every evening, and the turtles normally flock to my dock to eat the floating food. I am hoping that I can lure him closer on the next feeding day.

The waste water from cleaning snake tubs must be leaking into the pond! LOL
