LOL....they put a picture of a kingsnake up to represent the "hundreds of venomous" snakes?

another reason why people fear snakes because they keep getting misrepresented, kinda like the morons in florida calling a ball python a burmese

lol, it took me a bit, I just saw the picture of a milksnake and sat there wondering what was wrong with it, whether it was photomanipulated or something...then I noticed they were tagging it as a venomous snake!

I have no idea! But then again, I am a rather ignorant, average citizen who thinks every snake I see is venomous.

Easiest way to tell (and I'm shocked the idiots who posted that pic do not know this childrens rhyme) is.. Red touches yellow, kill a fellow. Red touches black, friend of jack :)

I learned that as: Red touch black, venom lack; red touch yellow, kill a fellow.

People amaze me at how dumb they can be about snakes.

It took me less than 30 seconds in a Google search to find the correct species of snake.

Just how difficult is that? They couldn't find a photo of a Fer de Lance?

yeah, I work at petsmart and right now we have a Sinaloan Milksnake and people always ask, "is it poisonous?" I hate the media, they screw up eveything

Seems like around here, if it's near the water it's a cottonmouth, if it's on land it's a copperhead. Those and rattlers are the only species of snakes in Alabama to the average person...sad...

What's even more ridiculous is the idea that snakes somehow went out of their way to find and "prey" on innocent and unsuspecting humans.

Naturally not, but they were disturbed, and did flee from the impending eruption, without much regard for what was in their path--so they wound up in human occupied areas. Fer de Lance have a pretty nasty temper when something they think is dangerous wanders too close. They managed to kill 50 people and 200 animals according to reports. Everything was fleeing the slopes of the volcano.

Yeah this drives me nuts as well...

People have the worst misunderstanding when it comes to snakes and reptiles in general. I don't get why when people don't know what there talking about, they talk as if they do. This is how these misunderstandings start, from stupid people talking too much about stuff they no little about....:rolleye2:
