We remodeled the kitchen!

I was so excited to get this done! My uncle and dad spent the weekend remodeling with us!

Before, 50s metal cabinets and all! It was a disaster in there. And yes I only had TWO counter tops!!!!

My mom and I tore out the cabinets, I forgot to take a picture of that. This is my Uncle Hal. He's from Hal's Plumbing in Maquoketa and did a FANTASTIC job! He's awesome *cough cough* :D We tried getting him to take short cuts, but he kept saying things like it's a little less than a 1/4 of an inch off, I better fix that, it needs fixed. I tried to tell him the whole house is at least 1/4 inch off, but no, it had to be perfect! :rofl:

We apparently did this remodel for the cats, I was unaware of this. Stuart, Leya, and Enzo. Leya is blind so at least one cat will stay off the counters. :rofl:

We are going to paint it a burnt orange color, the floor will be dark, and the dishwasher will be black. It sooooo nice to have a decent kitchen!!! I won't miss that kitchen one bit! My uncle told me that we were weird for liking the dark colors and it must be a kid thing :rofl: Our entire house is pretty much dark earth tones.

Oh, I forgot to say we are getting an over the range microwave, that's why there is such a huge empty space there.

Thank you! My uncle really was fantastic. All the counters and cabinets are 100% level and line up perfectly! It took forever and I definitely didn't care if it was absolutely perfect, but my uncle would NOT take "it works" or "looks good to me" for an answer :rofl: I had no idea of all the work it takes to put in some cabinets!

Oh good! We aren't the only ones :) I was making mac and swiss cheese for breakfast actually :rofl: My mom always makes fun of me for that, but I really love mac and cheese as long as it's homemade! It was really funny because I showed her those pictures last night and she knew I took the pictures when I got home from work (I work night shift), and she said "let me guess, mac and cheese" :rofl:

That's no kidding! It's so nice to have counter space and cupboard space, oh I love it! I'll have to check out that color and I'll be sure to post pictures once it's painted! It's really fun to have our own place and do fun things with it. We didn't want a fixer-upper and we definitely couldn't afford a dream house-I'm a student and work part time-but this house was perfect! Just needed some updating! It's really neat to see the changes. Now for central air and tearing down the living room wall to the new dinning room...

Thank you! I really like burnt orange as well, and was planning on painting the guest room that color. Once the counters/cabinets were in both Blake and I said, I think burnt orange in here! I can't wait to see it with the dark colors in there!

Oh and if you're wondering about a glass top and if I like it, I do, but don't get black. You have to clean the darn thing every time you cook on it. Even if you just spill water it leaves marks.

WoW it looks awesome! Love your choice of colors. Burnt orange gives a nice warmth to a room. We actually used it on a cathedral ceiling and the house just glows with warmth. Congrats on the new kitchan. Its such a good feeling when you have a new room.
