So Let See What You Think!?!?
Butter or Lesser? I personally think they are the same thing. What is this one?

I usually can't tell the difference between them, but I'm going to say butter? Maybe someone who is real good at telling the difference will chime in.

I'm going to say lesser, just because most of the butters I've seen have darker dorsal blushing than the one in this picture.

hmmmmmm I have to ask....how much does she weigh?
If she is still young I go for lesser. If she is older and over 1000 grams I would say butter.
I know....I make it all complicated...lol....

looks like a butter to me..

Re: So Let See What You Think!?!?
hard to tell since there are butters that look like lessers, and lessers that look like butters, i also think both are one and the same snake, just different lines, my lesser platinum is also many times called a butter by many hobbyists
but is a lesser platinum for sure, his dad came from ralph davis.......
when i bought her...

She weighed right around 850 grams when the picture was taken.

Re: So Let See What You Think!?!?
I think Lesser, her pattern did it for me. Colors confused me a bit but I'm going lesser :) She's beautiful BTW!

Re: So Let See What You Think!?!?
Okay here is the Answer!!!
I bough the father as a lesser 2 years ago. He is one of the nicest I have ever seen. I catch myself calling him a butter with all the yellow. I think they are the same thing personally other than one creating platty daddys. I think the butters can create something similar I just do not think anyone has done it. Thanks

Re: So Let See What You Think!?!?
I wonder how many more years it will be before everyone finally accepts that they are the exact same thing. Same morph from two different lines. No difference in the color either aside from normal variation that is present in all morphs. I think we have almost finally gotten there with pastels but the lesser/butter thing is still going strong.
I have a question for the "they are different" believers,
If I import a snake that looks like a pied, that is compatible with pieds, and it produces identical looking offspring and combos as pieds, can I make up a different name for it?

Re: So Let See What You Think!?!?
I'd say lesser but these morphs are virtually interchangeable. A light lesser, dark butter look nearly identical. They really are basically the same thing... Important to ask the breeder you purchased from.
