How many Specters do you see?

Here is my first clutch ever of specters (het superstripes) I've also got 3 more females due to lay from my proven specter male I picked up last year that I'm excited about. Especially the yellowbelly female due any day!

Specters are subtile but there are a few in there ;) How many do you see?

I'm going to say three, just going of the sire's appearance. I could be dead wrong though, I'm bad with the not so stand out morphs.

IM thinkin 4 i just got a clutch and my only clutch from specter x normal today 5 eggs 3 slugs wish they were all good o well hopefully theres a couple specters in thee good luck.

Its so subtle that its hard to tell.The two in the middle seem obvious and there's a few more that maybe as well.I would say 3 or 4 but no more than five. Conrads on them and good luck with the YB,Superstripes are awesome!

On a side note anyone have a ball park on what specters are valued at?

I see 5 for sure. How did your other clutches go? Any Spider Axanthics?

I went with 5. top 3 and 2 in the middle.

i know he got at least 1 spider axan, i voted 3 btw, i still honestly cant see much of a difference between specters and normals. other than it looks like they have less alien eyes?

I did hit on a spider axanthic that I'll have pics posted soon of :) It's a girl and sadly out of 18 eggs I only hit on one spider axanthic (breeding spider het to axanthic) so while the odds weren't with me atleast I got one! :)

I'm hoping my spider het x pastel het clutches make up for those odds ;)

How can you pick out the sire from a reduced normal?

Carefully? ;)

I think it's comparable to yellowbellies in a way. Some snakes have a kind of "yellowbelly" look but aren't genetic yellowbellies. Similarly there are things that "look" like specters but aren't genetically the same.

But if you hatch out some bred from a proven YB or specter line it definitely helps to pick them out from each other. I think as more specters hit the market they will be more like the yellowbellies (or any other subtle gene) where the more there are and the more people see the more "trained" everyone's eyes will be to spot the differences.

For fun I've had family members and friends, who know nothing about morphs, look at the clutch and told them to sort them into two piles of which ones look the same, so far every time they have sorted them correctly.

Yep :)

Specters are a codom/dom gene that when crossed with a yellowbelly create the Superstripe.

Genetic Stripes are a recessive gene.

Okay, please help me here. The Hubby deals with the genetics of our reptiles while I deal with the genetics of our fuzzy critters. What, exactly makes a Specter? Or rather, what should we be looking for visually? I ask because we own a supposedly het albino male that looks very similar to your male Specter, but a bit lighter in color. I am very curious and fascinated with the variety in morphs the BPs offer.

Are you sure your talking about the Genetic stripe? The two morphs look nothing alike.

you need a gene of yb and a gene of specter..you must have both to make superstripe..

I haven't got a clue, I haven't seen enough of these to really be able to pick them out. My best guess would be the three in the middle (from top to bottom) and MAYBE the upper right hand corner and upper left hand corner. But honestly I really couldn't tell you. Other then a head spot, what are the best markers in your opinion?

I see 5. I have a female that I believe to be a spector and the 2 in your first pic plus the 5 babies (I believe) all look just like her. You have made me even more hopeful :)

I counted 5.

If you look at the sire, he does have a partial tail stripe, and these Specters do make Superstripes, so they do have some type of partial striping on them.

The genetics are co-dom from what I've read on this thread, so all you do is look for the babies with some type of partial striping whether it be on the tail, neck, or even in the middle.:)

There are 5!

There are two normals, the ones at the bottom left and bottom right of the picture.

The stripes, slightly brighter color, and to a very small degree the belly patterns help to determine what's a specter versus what's a normal.

I've got 3 more clutches of specter stuff laid.....I'm most excited about the yellowbelly girl that laid 8 eggs.....Hopefully I hit on a superstripe or two! :please:
