Well I Just Got Eggs :)
I had a feeling that my big normal female was pregnant but wasn't sure, and what do you know, i check her today and 14 eggs. I just have a couple of questions. What size tubs do you guys normally incubate your eggs in, because being that there are 14 eggs it was a very large clutch so i put them into a 15q tub. They are currently being incubated at 88-90 degrees in a coleman 74qt cooler. The only problem is that the 15 qt tub took up most of the cooler and one of my other girls might be laying soon, but i don't think she will. Also some of the eggs were stuck together so i didn't bother separating them because i didn't want to break them
So all i need to know is-
-what size tubs do u guys incubate eggs in?
-I noticed on the eggs that there are some pink spots that look like i can almost see into the egg. Does this mean my girl didnt have enough calcium? Do you guys thing the eggs will be ok?
-About how long till i will see baby snakes?
This is my first year breeding so i am very excited :D
Thanks, sirry no picks, camera is broken will try to get pics up tommorow.

First of all, congrats on the clutch!! That's a huge clutch too! What was the pairing?

I use 6qt tubs, but I don't think you could fit 14 eggs in one... 8 eggs is a tight fit in a 6qt tub. That means do what you did (use a larger tub), or put some the eggs in multiple tubs (if some are separate or if you separate them). What you did is fine.

I'm not sure what you mean by "pink spots". Are they partially transparent? How big are they? I'm not sure what you're talking about, but pictures might help. When you can get pics up, that'd be great.

The hatchlings should pip in about 56-58 days and should be out soon thereafter.

I made sure to mark all of the eggs with a permanant marker so i will know the way they were all laid so i dont disturb their origional position

    Aren't those "egg windows"?

Congrats on a huge clutch! I think they all look great! I hope you get lots of spiders!

The pink spots are "almost windows". A "window" alows you to see into the egg. The spots won't hurt the eggs. Some of my eggs have them also.
    Congrats on the huge clutch!

Are clutch sizes genetic? Because if that is the case then i want to keep some of the female normals out of this. Also can low white spiders prodouce high white clutches

Clutch sizes all depend on the size of the female. Smaller females produce Smaller clutches, bigger females make well...bigger clutches. I do not think that clutch size is Genetic, but getting really big might, so the offspring may or may not grow faster than others... I am not sure.

As to the spider question, they can, but normally a low white spider will throw more low whites from what I have seen. They may throw spiders with more white than them, but I doubt they will be super high white.

The sides of the tub i have them in have some condensation on the sides. Does that mean the substraight is too moist or is that normal?

Ok so i just got a probe thermomiter and it reads that i have 99% humidity inthe incubator itself and enough for condenstaion to form in the tub. The souce of theis is the water bottles i have at the bottom on the incubator on top of the heat tape. Is this too much humidity?

Ok so just to be completely safe a drilled 2 tiny holes (less then the diamater of a normal bic pens body) in the lid of the 15qt tub housing the eggs and a 1 hole the same size in the cooler lid just to give a tiny bit of air exchange.

Sounds like your doing good, from what I've read about breeding, you should be fine as far as condensation. As long as the eggs are Not wet with condensation you'll be fine, I've also seen people lifting one side alittle bit higher on one side to get the condensation to roll off to the sides rather then on the eggs them selves....

How many more days left?..LOL..To many right?..
