I second this. I installed too large of fans in mine initially and they were keeping it too hot even without heat tape.

24/7 so as to avoid any hot/cool spots

All fans will generate some kind of heat from the bearings or bushings depending on the type of fan. Keep them on entire time for faster stabilized temps

easiest way is buy a cheap 15$ computer power supply and jump it. then you can just plug the fans in as you need them.

    How to

Or you could just get a fan that runs on AC. I use a 88mm AC fan in my incubator and wired it up with one of these AC fan cords http://www.amazon.com/AC-Fan-Power-C.../dp/B000BSLULO
Although you don't need the AC fan cord. You could just buy a 1$ extension cord, cut off the female end and wire the fan into that.

I recently had the fan that came with my incubator burn out, I was able to find the exact same make and model at this website...

    Gopher Electronics

I can't remember off the top of my head which one it is right now, I'll look it up at home tonight and post the model number.

This is the fan that came with my Natures Spirit Incubator and has been working non stop for at least 6 months of the year for the last 6 years or so.

You should keep your fans ON 24/7.
Don't connect it with the Flexwatt to a Herpstat. Cause it will stop running and you will end up getting Hot Spot in your incubator.

I prefer to have my fans push down instead of push up. That way I move the warm air that is on top to the bottom. And place the probe in the middle.

Try to get AC fans instead of computer ones, you have less chance of them breaking down. I also suggest to get the ones with the less WATT possible. Cause they will generate heat. If it's too much, your temperature will be too high even with the flexwatt at off. And be careful on the CFM, you don't want to turn your incubator in a wind tunnel, just move the air around.

On my incubator, I have 2 fans and they generate just enough heat that my flexwatt (connected to a herpstat) is running at around 10%. That's good but I would have prefer to have more flexibility. But all of that depends on your incubator, mine is nearly completely sealed.
