Waiting for my Boaphile :(
So, I ordered a Boaphile rack 5 1/2 weeks ago. I know -- I have read on the forum here that they take forever to get, but I went with Boaphile because I like that they have a 6 high rack, and I live close by, so I may have gotten a break on pricing since I offered to pick it up myself.
What is the longest that someone has had to wait for a Boaphile? From what I understand my wait is about average. However, I am getting a little irritated because I was told 3-4 weeks, and like I said, it has now been 5 1/2.
I am in sales myself, and I was trained to under promise and over deliver -- not the opposite!
I called him at the 4 week mark, and again 2 days ago. It doesn't seem like he really cares that he has missed his completion estimate by quite a bit.
Has anyone had any issues of never getting a rack that was ordered? I'm wondering if I should ask for a refund, or just keep waiting... Has anyone asked for a refund and been denied?
Thanks!

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
Boaphile does have a reputation for taking FOREVER. Ive heard of people waiting 6-8 weeks. Id give it some more time. From what I've heard he is really a great guy and i doubt you'll have any problems. I personally only buy from repti-racks, but boaphile is a pretty major name in this hobby.

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
I had no problem getting my 5 cage stack pack from them last year. I also added a third hinge and locks to the cages.
Hope you are happy in the end.
It is right in the middle of baby boa season, but, no excuses. If you are gonna do it, do it!

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
I hear this a lot with Boaphile

Deffinetly. Your paying with your money, and when you get an estimate of 3-4 weeks and its going on week six, i would start to get a little testy. A business is a business and in my opinion there are no excuses. This is one of the reasons I decided not to go with boaphile. But, too each is their own and if someone loves their products, then thats fine by me.

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
WOW not sure what the problem might be I just got mine in two days ago exactly 3 weeks after i ordered them

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
Took my 421D 7 weeks to get my house, takes awhile.
-
Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
Sorry to say, you better get ready to wait...From all the threads and from acquaintance experiences...They take longer than the expected time frames...

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
Wow, Im surprised to hear that. I have a 5 stack of the 4ft x 2ft with double doors, double heat, double ranco and dividers. Mine got here in 4 1/2 weeks and Jeff was very nice the couple times I called him. Im sure you will get it soon. Being warmer I bet their business picked up alot since I got mine a few months ago.

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
Jeff makes great cages/racks!!! They will be worth the wait!

Wow -- that really makes me angry! How is it that you ordered after me, and recieved it before me?? Does that make sense -- you would think he would fill the orders in the order they were received.
And I don't even have to wait on shipping -- he just needs to call me and I will pick it up in a day or two!
GRRRRR!!!

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
You know, come to think of it, I read about something similar on another forum once. Turns out he had inadvertantly place the guys order in the shipped pile before it actually got completed. I wonder if this is what happened to you. What did he say when you called him?
-
Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
He didn't really have much to say. It seemed like everytime I called him he was irritated and that I was wasting his time -- even when I called to order it!!
I called at the 3 week mark (just to nudge him along), and he said it would be ready about May 5. Then I called him this last Tuesday, and I basically told him I wanted to pick up the rack on Friday. He said that would probably work, and that he would call later in the week to work out the pick-up details.
I'm not surprised that I haven't heard from him, and Friday is almost over! :taz:

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
Well may be he just thinks your ugly and stupid!!!!
sorry, just kinda didn't know where else to go from there :weirdface
Bottom line is there is no excuse for someone not doing what they said they would do

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
Yea. I have changed my mind about ordering any of his products.
Was gonna pick of some 421d's but id rather my money go somewhere else. Recent interactions with him has changed my opinion about him and his "business"

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
Doesn't he know that forums like this exist, and that we talk about good and bad businesses?
-
Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
This is insterseting because I just emailed them 2 days ago about their caging and they have not responded. I'm in MN too and was recommended to them by a few players here. Now I'm a bit hesitant to drop $800 on a large python cage with all the trimmings:rolleyes:

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
I just dont know. I met him at a show. I know he is a member on one of the popular boa forums. I had only heard good things before now. Hopefully he comes around and makes it right. Maybe something is going on in his life and it's affecting his attitude. I do hope he makes it right for you.

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
I e-mailed him a couple of weeks ago about a cage stack I was considering ordering. I haven't heard a word in response. I have heard good things about his products, but the customer service is questionable. You shouldn't have to chase someone down for answers, there are too many other people out there who provide great products who will happily take your money.

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
lol this is good to know. I was considering buying something from him also. I think he lost a few customers from this thread alone.
Thanks for the heads up on this garbage. Being told it will take 3 weeks, and going on close to 6 weeks is not acceptable if you ask me.

This is the reason I order all my racks from Rich at ReptileBasics.com
I've orderd 6 racks so far and each order had a fast turnaround time.
Also I could NEVER imagine Rich irritated about a customer calling him. His customer service is top notch.

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
AMEN there...Rich at RBI is great, but doesn't have larger cages...However, Ed from ConstrictorsNW has great HDPE cages that are pretty much indestructible...I'm caging over to his Pro-Line cages as money permits...Great guy, great customer service, worth the wait for his cages since he's a one man shop...

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
I got both my racks at two seperate times in about 4-5 weeks. I remember the website saying that they usually take 4-6 weeks. The racks are great and were well worth the wait.
I think I would start asking for a refund at week 8 if he hasn't given you a reason for the delay and made you feel at ease about the transaction.

I understand that they are worth the wait -- that's why I decided to go with him (instead of RBI or somebody else). I also realize that the website says 4-6 weeks. That is why I asked him two weeks before I ordered, and when I ordered the rack how long it would take, and both times I was told 3-4 weeks.
So the point is, I was quoted 3-4 weeks. If I was told 6-8 weeks I would still be patiently waiting -- but now he is two weeks overdue!!
Today I asked for either a refund or a rack by this coming Friday -- we'll see which one I get -- hopefully one of them!

I guess the fire I lit under his arse did some good!! I got an e-mail and an apology yesterday, and I will be picking up the rack tomorrow!!

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
Like I said earlier in the thread, I've got a 5 cage stack pack from boaphile. I couldn't be happier with it.
I understand your frustration, but hope you are happy with your new cage/s.

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
I've ordered from Boaphile three times now with never a problem. Sorry for your bad experience.

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
I picked up the rack today!!
It seems as though what everyone says is true. If you can put up with the lousy service and waiting forever, the rack is worth the wait.
This is my first rack, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I think it should last a good number of years.
I already got my Herpstat hooked up, and the temps and humidity are holding just right, so the snakes are chlling in their new digs.
Thanks for all the help and support everyone!

My normal boy. He might have some trouble adjusting -- he has spent the last year in a custom wood enclosure.

And my spider. He should do fine -- he just moved from a stand alone 32qt tub to a 32qt tub in the rack.

Re: Waiting for my Boaphile :(
Ive heard from a few people that his customer service is lacking. I have a rack from him and its a great rack but I bought it used for 100 bucks. I go with animal plastics they have a rack for pretty much anything and if they dont have what you need they will custom make whatever you want. And there customer service couldnt get any better
