Re: What kind of aspen
I currently use shredded aspen, but I've got a big bag of aspen Sani-Chips that I'm going to try out. It's about the size of confetti...

Re: What kind of aspen

Re: What kind of aspen
Both.... I mix them together for some strange reason. :P

Re: What kind of aspen
Both types seem to work fine, but I can only seem to find the chipped stuff in large bulk packages, and I have way too many snakes to be buying small bags of aspen.

Yea i just put some of the chipped stuff in today its not bad :gj:

Re: What kind of aspen
Chipped. I was using the other stuff and the really tiny cut confetti aspen but when one of my snakes got a mouth full of bedding I quickly changed. The chipped is so big that it doesnt get caught in their mouth. If any is stuck to the rat it falls off before the snake swallows it. I also use newspaper in some cases and kiln dried pine for the rats.

Yea the chipped i have is :gj:
Im dont like the feel of chipped but i seem to like it better. Bigger bag for less money. Seems to not be to bad during feeding like less stuck to mouse. Also i find it much easier to clean. The chipped seems to not take off and fly in the air like the shredded does. Also less messy?

Meh, that's not so strange! Hey ya got the best of both worlds there - whatever "the best of both wordls" is!
I (we) use aspen chips. I think this is what we are sticking with after gowing through peat moss, ReptiBark, etc. Easy for spot cleaning, costs is easy on the budget for the amount you get and not messy.

Re: What kind of aspen
i prefer the shredded aspen but it cheaper on me to get the chipped( shaving type) of aspen a block of aspen shaving cost me about 25 bucks and comes in 8.0 cubic ft compressed)
I spent over 60 bucks on the shredded type and still didn't do all my cages . the other type does at least all the cages 2x
