    Sad day
Blah ... Just a long awful day ...

Took my cockatiels Boris and Natasha to our birdie vet today because my female tiel was breathing heavy, she was eating and acting normal just strained breathing.
The vet examined her and said her abdomen was extended and hard ....said could be egg bound, fluid, or a mass.
The exam was a bit much for her so they took her to get oxygen, then did X-rays to see what was causing it.
At this point I knew either way it was bad and would mean surgery. She barely made it through the Xrays even as gentle as they were she started turning purple...
Got her back on oxygen and waited for the xrays , then the vet came in and you could tell it was bad .....
Her organs were pushed to one side because of a large mass . She had a tumor....just barely a year and a half old. I asked the vet his opinion if it were his bird what would he do next and he said the chance of her making it through a major surgery was unlikely.
So we said goodbye to Natasha today.

That's the flip side of having a pet. Usually we end up outliving it which means having to let go. That's why I'll never get another dog.

Sorry about your loss, but it sounds like you did the right thing.

Thanks for your kind words everyone! I am keeping an eye on Boris , he actually seems okay , maybe a little confused , yesterday was a stressful day so he really did not eat much , but I will keep an eye on him .
