I think being known as crazy is a good rep, just because people know to stay away from me
Kidding, people do call me crazy for having these snakes though, I don't mind it I like em :)

Haha thanks! I needed some larger snake in my collection, and Dumeril's definitely made it. I'll be breeding her later this year when I get a male.

You would absolutely LOVE to own one of these snakes, I would consider them a beginner snake because they are extremely calm and do make awesome pets.:D

LOL for sure! They trick you though, all the ones I've ran into were nice, and I don't think there are too many mean ones out there. My first girlie had an attitude, but if you were gentle so was she.

Re: Your Dumeril's Boas!! Post Pictures? :)
Belated congratulations on a stunning addition to your collection! Good looks, mild temperament, and a whole lotta style--Dumerils are great animals. Hope you have many years of healthy/regularly eating Dumeril-keeping fun!

Re: Your Dumeril's Boas!! Post Pictures? :)
Dumerils are awesome Tiff I was blessed to have one for about 8 years. He was a rescue and a cantankerous old huffer and puffer, but never an actor lol. They make great snakes and are way under valued as a great pet.

Thanks! My girl is a great eater, I thought she would most likely refuse but when I open up her tub you can definitely tell she's a good eater:O

Man 8 years? The longest I've kept a snake so far is 3-4 years, and he's a Kingsnake. That's a pretty long time though, for me I guess. Hopefully I'll have my Dumeril's girl for longer than 8 years, and I hope she is a good breeder.
I do like how gentle Dumeril's are, and I do agree they made wonderful pets.

Man they are beautiful! Great looking Dumeril's for sure!!:gj::D
They are both real nice looking, you thinking about breeding?
The first boa I ever got was a Dumeril's boa, and I strongly regret selling her. She was a bit edgy sometimes, but if you were calm so was she. Great choice in choosing Dumeril's, you will definitely enjoy them:).

Breeding will seem like a fun experiment, and I'm doing it because I would love to have the chance to breed Dumeril's since they just about top my favorite snakes of all time.;)
If you do end up breeding, let me know! Maybe you can give me some info about it if you do find out stuff, I'm still new to that:P

She is beautiful! Her pattern seems really reduced, looks real cool!
I've always wondered if it was possible to produce albino Dumeril's.. Now how amazing would those look??:D

This was my female Dumeril "Mocha". Loved this snake but my daughter talked me into letting her take it home and has since passed away. :tears:

Man she was a beauty, I am so sorry for your loss:(. If you don't mind me asking, how did she pass away? I know Dumeril's are notorious for being finicky eaters, so I'd imagine it could have happened from starvation or possibly poor husbandry on her part? Do you plan on ever getting another? And nice head shot by the way! Very cool photos :)

They are awesome!!! Very nice female, mine is around that size. What do you use for substrate? Right now I'm on cypress, just switched her today. She always spilled her dish in the aspen bedding so I could not take that anymore LOL.

Tiff: Thanks, I just use simple newspaper. I know they like to burrow but i give them enough layers of paper to go under. A reptile rehab and shelter I belong to got me started on using newspaper. it's much easier to clean and cheaper as well.
I had the same problem with her tipping her water bowl over before. I just got a bigger bowl with a heavier bottom. It is less likely to tip over then.

Re: Your Dumeril's Boas!! Post Pictures? :)
I'm late to the party but here's my 2 girls. Just picked the little one up about a month ago, she's right around 150g. My larger female is almost two years old and is at about 2200g. These girls are simply awesome, my favorites. My lackluster camera and photo skills don't do them justice.
