Should be good for a big bp. That is pretty much what I have my big girl in. I think mine is 18 deep rather than 16.

3 feet wide for the cage I want to build.

I want to go a little deeper, But the cages are goin to be a built in unit.. I want the reptile's area to flow with the house. Right now it is a cluster of tanks. Thanks for the info

I think what the previous poster meant is -- a good width for what kind of animal? BP -- yes, buremes -- no...

3x1 is too small for an adult blood

should be very nice for a bp

I know people who keep adult Bloods and SHort Tails in 3 foot wide cages, but they are 30 inches deep.

I have kept and bred them in 3x2x8" tall tubs already

    they need floor space.

I agree, floor space over height obviously.

Me personally, 3x2 is a little small.

Mine are in 50" long by 18" deep and 12" tall and they're perfect

    1/4' smaller.

I have used the ve 175's for boas...I like the tubs that tend to be more on the square side because they are much easier to hold a gradient in if you have to keep your herps in a cold house.

My blood is not a big blood as of yet.. she is about 2 foot long and from an 07' clutch.. if anyone have some pics of their bloods setup that would help out alot. I will have to redo my plans to make it work.. thank you in advance

I'm sure you would be fine with 3ft especially if they are males. Many people house aduly bp's in 32-41qt tubs. They are about the same length you are talking about.

I think he meant Burmese, but 3 feet long is bigger than what some people keep their snakes in. A large female might be a little cramped, but for males that would be fine. A blood I would think needs a bigger cage than that? Maybe just play it safe and go 4 foot wide.

Measurements sound good. It's just a bit bigger than mine (30"x14" and 14" high). Our snake is barely a yearling, if that so he's got plenty of space. When he gets older, and bigger, I'll just build a newer bigger cage. I learnt so much building my first one.

Nice, I had to re figure the sizes, for the BP's and my Blood to make her's bigger. The blood is still small and growin more. I will starting the cuts this weekend and a wood shop. FINALLY!!! I plan on taking pics as I do the work..

Awesome, it'll be cool to see someone elses work. I'm making plans for a new cage for the next snake that I'm gonna aqquire this weekend. I'm thinking the floor space will be the same dimensions, but itll only be 12" high and sit on top of the last one I built.
Snake needs to be purchased and settle in to a tank first while i aqquire materials for the tank.

Nice. BP's are addicting.. My new setup will include 3 cages and some shelf areas for my cresties and my spotted gecko. I will have use of some great table saws this weekend and make all the cuts and build at home. I kinda miss working in a wood shop. Do you have any kind of lighting in your new setup? for viewing or heat?

    Yeah. For viewing, not heat.

I had a couple 12v LED strips in a cool blue, so I wired them up to a switch and transformer and now, on command, I can cast a cool blue azure across the cage.

Unfortunately I can't get a camera to show what the eye can see, but once I do I'll put up some pics.

I just got a second BP today. His patterns say normal, but he is very dark in color but with a bright belly. I'm letting him settle before I handle and get pics. But soon I'll be building a second cage for this snake and I have learnt soo much about building cages that mistakes will not be as plentiful as when building the first enclosure.

And flexwatt is perfect. I don't know where people get the fire stories from, but I'm hooked up to a rheostat (temps reading 91ish) and the vent holes beneath stop a dangerous buildup of heat. Wood needs to reach 400ish degrees before it'll ignite.

If you can find a 120 to 12 transformer (radio shack) autozone would be a good place to get the LEDs so long as you don't mind a little wire splicing.
