We've got eggs!
She seemed pretty restless last night, and it appeared that she had moved the eggs down quite a bit. I went to sleep and woke up realizing I shouldn't have.
We ended up with four good (HUGE) eggs, and one slug. The good ones all candled fertile. The first egg I removed was off to the side on it's own, and was pretty cold to the touch when I picked it up. So, I'm not sure if it's going to be okay or not. At most, it may have been there for three hours. I went to sleep around two and removed them at around five this morning. If I had stayed up, I would have moved it to the incubator immediately. Anyway, fingers crossed. If all goes well, they should start pipping around June 30th. This is the first time I've ever done this, so it's been pretty crazy.

And here they are. Going substrateless this time. Temps and humidity are all good. I'm probably going to fix them up so no one rolls though.

And the one slug.
The pairing is dinker to normal. Actually the "dinker" was pretty much proved for something by Steve Winkler. You can see some of his visual offspring here: See clutch #11! They're pretty neat. So these will be hets for whatever that is, I assume. Unless I get some sort of surprise. You never know.

Here's the mother, Mort. As far as I know, completely normal and het for nothing. Sorry for the bad photo, too. I need to set up a light tent for these guys and get some better ones.

And there's the dad, "Maverick". I wish I had good comparison pics of the two. He's so much lighter than Mort. Really cool "jungle" pattern too.

Wow, LOVIN' Maverick's pattern. Are you using that little silver incubator? The fan and that grate the eggs are laying on looks just like my lil incubator I bought)

Re: We've got eggs!
Thanks, everyone! I'll be sure to post again when they hatch.
@AcePythons - I think so. Mine is a ReptiPro 5000, if that's what you have. One of these!

Congrates on the eggs!!! I have the same incubator as yours and I just bought it and my girls is in her pre lay shed and I noticed that u just put the egss staight into that baby on the tray wich I had to search forever to find the biggest container I could fit in their cause there is not that much room in there are the eggs ok in their like that and I take it you just fill the water tray in the bottom I'm just curious sorry for the long reply

Re: We've got eggs!
Yeah, as long as the humidity is up and they aren't coming in contact with any water, they should be alright. Looking good so far, anyway! We'll see how it goes. I couldn't find a suitable container I could fit either, so I just set them on the tray.

Wow interesting what u find when u look urself up, lol...
Congrads on the clutch, males looking good.. Wanted to add that my 2009 clutch # 12 was the same exact breeding as the clutch u linked in ur post that ended up w/ different results..2008 i had some issues w/ my incubator spiking from the summer heat and feel that the results were due to incubation not genetics, maybe ull discover something different..
Good luck,
Steve Winkler

That may very well be the case! Some never prove out, some throw all kinds of odd results that make no sense. It is fun to work on these projects though. Regardless of the genetic outcomes, I'll be thrilled as long as we have healthy snakes poking their noses out in the end. It's been a good learning experience too.
Since I'm here, I might as well update on the eggs. They've been in the 'bator for 17 days now. Despite the humidity reading 99%, they did start to dimple a bit, so I moved them to tubs and covered those good to keep the humidity in. They haven't sunken any further, so we'll see how they do.
Now, the one egg I was worried about (The one that was off to the side when I removed them.) appears to be dead, unfortunately. I no longer see healthy veins when candling. They're there, but just barely. This egg has also been sweating quite a bit from the start. I'm leaving it alone for now just in case, but do think we might end up losing that one. It hasn't gone bad or become hard yet, so I want to give it a chance. The rest all look good, though I haven't caught sight of the actual snakes inside them yet. Big, healthy, red veins. June 30th can't come fast enough...
Good luck to you this year, as well!
