Re: SPIED (Spider X Piebald) Pic please
I've seen the Leopard Spider Pieds, and Bee pied but I can remember if there are any more Pieds..
PS.. they all have that much white..even on the Bee Pied it's just the head that has color that I've ever seen.

Re: SPIED (Spider X Piebald) Pic please
i've seen one or two spider pieds at the couple shows I've been to in the past two months, so yes other people have produced them.
Interestingly, spider pieds seem to have lots of white, and patterned heads. I don't know if this is coincidence or not.

Re: SPIED (Spider X Piebald) Pic please
I've never heard of a Spied with anything other than a white body with head only pattern.

this is interesting to me. has there been a pin pied? the pied gene seems a little weird. for example look as the lesser pieds. all white.

So why is it they come out all white except the head

Re: SPIED (Spider X Piebald) Pic please
My theroy is that the form of lucisum that spiders display somehow matches up with the from of lucisum in Pieds causing an almost BEL.

No I think there is something else going on with Ralph's animal. Because we've seen Lesser Pied's with color and pattern.

i always wondered that. did he produce it from a lesser het piedX lesser hed pied?

Re: SPIED (Spider X Piebald) Pic please
3 different people produced an all white snake with black eyes with a Spider Het Pied X Pied pairing in 2009.
I would guess that a normal Pied ranges in amount of white from near 0% all the way up to about 95%. Something with the Spider gene changes this percentage to 95%+ (just guessing on the numbers but something to that effect).
The only pictures I've seen of Bee Pied also were 95% white and Pastel Pied's seem to vary in white like a normal Pied so it would seem that the Spider gene is the definite factor.
The Panda Pied I saw pictures of had an all white head. That would make me guess that the amount of white on a Panda Pied can vary up to and including 100% (since the head was white).

Who??
Neither the spider nor the pied have black eyes..the spider Pied doesn't have black eyes..I'd be interested to see pics of both the mom and the dad..There may be more at work there than we think

Re: SPIED (Spider X Piebald) Pic please
Yeah aren't the eyes greenish like a normal spider
-
Re: SPIED (Spider X Piebald) Pic please
The one picture I saw was from jbpythons from Germany. A thread on the topic had 2 other breeders say they got the same result from a Spider Het Pied X Pied breeding.

Roussis' white wedding is a pure white spider pied
Steel City Exotics also produced a pure white spider pied

Re: SPIED (Spider X Piebald) Pic please
So I wonder if you took a low white piebald and breed it to a spider if it would still come out almost all white.

how do they know they're SPIEDS?
could they not simply be 100% white PIEDS?
have they been proven yet?

Piebalds always have a head pattern. Well as far as I am aware of any ways. So a Spied being all white would make sense.

Well until now I was operating under the assumption that all spied's had color on their head. After seeing some of these pics I'm starting to wonder.

Re: SPIED (Spider X Piebald) Pic please
Personally I don’t think all is known about the super blue eyed or black eyed genes. Almost any snake could have half of the gene required. So many different types make a super white snake and who knows how many more will be found to produce the same.
The BP morphs are growing still to this day. New colors and patterns are being found all of the time. There are crosses that have yet to be crossed. We are all still learning and being amazed.
Breeding Ball Python morphs is like Christmas day. You are always surprised when the packages are opened!

I think its still safe to say that most of them have pattern on the head. :)
