if you had $4000
I'm planning on going to the Tinley park show next year and am saving as much as I can for it so....... What would you get if you had $4000 to blow on snakes. I was thinking a jampea or super dwarf retic, burm, some ball pythons, corn snakes, carpet pythons, leopard geckos and maybe some other stuff that I might think of later.......

Re: if you had $4000
A whole lot of bp's and corns. If I can only get 1 awsome morph for $4,000. You can bet I would walk out with every normal at the show. lol Dont get me wrong because I love cool morphs just like the next guy, But I love snakes period no matter what color or pattern they are. Sorry for not being any help LOL

Re: if you had $4000
Proven breeder female morph ball python.

Re: if you had $4000
If I had 4,000 to blow on the tinley park event I would just look around till I found the snakes that looked the best to me and hope they were under 4k :D

Re: if you had $4000
Basic morph female breeders:
Pastel
Spider/Pin
Mojave/lesser
Then with the rest of the money add some NICE males:
Clown
Spinner
Killer Bee/Killer Blast
Pied
Axanthic Spider/etc
Then throw in come normal girls for fun.
Basic females allow for you base lines then adding males with mutli genes you can use more of those genes in the male by mating them with multi females. Better bang for your buck.
But that is just my opinion. I don't have the cash so I am doing all base line morphs. If I had that cash I would go that way.
You could always get some with some nice het's also. Like het for clown, axanthic, carmel, albino, etc.

Re: if you had $4000
I'd get myself a white lipped python or maybe a woma. Then I would go to India for a few months with the rest of the money.
What a great dilemma to be in.

Re: if you had $4000
Well you could always wait until my super dwarf retics finally lay eggs.... lol
If I had an extra 4 grand for snakes Id have me a champagne and a desert. Those are the 2 I want now.
Oh and a pastel ivory.

Re: if you had $4000
Can't go wrong with a nice group of Jungles and Jags. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of BPs to choose from. Those are what I would go with.

Didn't even notice he was interested in other snakes, not that I read it I second this!
Also a colony of leos would be fun as well, base morph leos are under a 100 now a days.
Also you might want to set some of that aside for cages/racks and feeding/breeding feeders.

Re: if you had $4000
Oh yeah and i should have $5000-$5500 but that $1000-$1500 goes to buy a freezer, rats, bedding, hides and racks. Didn't think this post would be such a hit.:P

Re: if you had $4000
I'd do some home maintenance and pay off a few loans.
Then I'd find out how much a super cinnamon runs.

Re: if you had $4000
i blow it on a melanistic line green tree python.

Re: if you had $4000
Make sure your committed when you buy a snake your in it for the long haul. 20-30years so I read. Start off small see if it grows on you. 1 to 4 snakes is easier to get rid of then racks. I'm new myself but I have a feeling these breeders aren't keeping ALL of there inventory unsold from previous years. There would be more of a overstock which it seems there are. People throwing snakes on you at the shows etc. trying to get you to get this one that one.
On a good note, I see myself owning these if I had the change:
BP
Spider Ball
Clown
Pastel
lemon bumblebee
normal
woma
Boas
Rainbow
Red Tail
I don't believe in the tiny spaces. I like to see them have room. I would build a shelf 9'lx2'wx6'h for 4'x2'x2' areas for 8 tanks 48x18x18 or whatever tanks.

Re: if you had $4000
I'd start a grande terre or GTxtype E henkel cross leachianus gecko project. 2.2 and caging would be do-able with 4k, and possibly even more.
Though there are a couple snakes on the wishlist, I have the funds for them already and am just waiting for the right ones to pop up on my radar.
If I were to start up a BP breeding group with 4k, I'd do what I could to get a head start on a desert-pastel-fire project.. Maybe a desert male, a pastel female, a few normal females, caging, and incubator? I'm unsure on desert prices nowadays.

Re: if you had $4000
I have been keeping snakes and lizards for about 2 1/2-3 years and I know the commitment involved.
-
Re: if you had $4000
In order of desire...
1.) Angolan Python:rolleyes:
2.) Adult Female - Agentine Boa :gj:
2.) Adult Female - Dumeril's Boa:banana:
I would pray for a resource to allow me to have a Normal Red Full Grown Burmese Python, with a hired keeper :rolleye2::rolleye2::rolleye2::taz:

Re: if you had $4000
Just spent more than that on a pair of boas.
COMBOS!!!!!!
-
Re: if you had $4000
Well if I could just spend it on BP's: A mix of normals and spiders, then maybe some awsome morgh pair with good bloodlines? (I know nothing about BP's and due to parents I won't have one till I move out.)
I anything:
A few bp's spiders and normals, some leopard geckos butt load of morphs, cresties, gargs, days, tokays, a RTB, GTP, Brazilian rainbow boa, albino burm, lots of corns, kings, milks, maybe a garter, some T's, whip scorps, a turkish/dubia roach colony and a rat breding progect/ mouse. (have I spent $4.000 yet?)
We were talking about anything right

Re: if you had $4000
I'd invest it in a couple real nice rack systems and a nice incubator. Then spend what I have left in nice big normal girls, and 1000ish gram morph females. If I had anything left... Maybe a few adult cresties. :)
