Sad News.....
It is with my biggest saddest heart to let ya'll know that Little Keira passed away yesterday.
If you remember her she was the one that was in horrible shape when we got her. We were currently nursing her back to health.
Here is the post http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...d.php?t=114540
She was doing actually really good. The spot on her mouth was just about gone, and she was getting really good strength back. We were still having to assist feed her though. But she was doing 100% better since we had gotten her.
We left for vacation for a week, and made sure all the snakes were feed, watered and were going to be okay. I had my sister periodically check on them and everything was okay. But when we came home they were the 1st things we checked on. There she was curled around her hide dead. I immediately busted into tears  . She was doing so well. I just don't have a clue what happened. I feel bad that we didn't take her with us. But she was doing so good i thought she would have been fine.
So my husband curled her up in her hide, and buried her next to the house. I am at peace knowing that she isn't in pain or anything and is now safe.
Its just sad knowing that she was doing so good, and then gone the next day!
May she rest in peace :(

I'm so sorry to hear that. It is always hard to lose them, especially when you think they are doing so good.

It was probably something internal due to the horrible conditions she had been in before she was given to you. I'm so sorry for your loss, and I can understand how losing an animal that you've taken special care of can really tear your heart out. :(
At least she had you to make her feel comfortable and safe before she passed.

Thats just one of the bad sides of rescuing animals, sometimes they just can't hold on any longer. Sorry about your loss.

I'm so sorry. :( You did the best you could, and I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that Keira knew that. Nature is very strange, and sometimes an animal just knows when it's had enough... She was warm and comfortable, and that's what matters. Feel better soon, hun.

oye....I am so so soooooo sorry. I know that you really worked hard to make sure that she was taken care of. Sometimes they have had such a hard time that they can no longer continue.

I'm sorry to hear that, it's hard to lose one, especially when it looked like she was doing better.
Sometimes the ordeal they go through compromises internal organs, and even though they recover in some ways, that damaged organ finally gives out.
You gave her the best chance possible.

I signed up on this site after your other post about rescuing Keira, but I just read the whole thread you linked to. I applaud your valiant effort to bring her back to health, and I mourn with you on her passing. Just remember that the time in which she was under your care were almost assuredly the best time of her too-short life. Some battles simply cannot be won.
