Just curious what other people name their snakes.

mine is named AOD - angel of death :devilish: reason was when I first got him his favorite thing to do was bite, bite and bite. He has calmed down now thank god and doesnt bite me anymore... or he is just screwing with me and waiting for the right time for a good chomp when I dont expect it. :halohorn:

    Re: names
The BP I have: Monty. Little did I know that a) Tons of pythons were named Monty b) "He" was in fact a "she", but I didn't feel like changing it.

Northern Pine Snake: Checkers, because of his white/black boxed pattern, and that he is very fast, and that he likes to check everything out (curiosity to the point of annoyance).

Boa Constrictor: Crush, most of the reasons obvious. The other reasons were his deep orange color (JimiSnakes salmon pastel), and the fact that I had replaced his humidity generator bottle with a 2L Crush bottle and it just struck me as a good name all around.

    Re: names
I use a couple different naming conventions.

I always wanted a "bigger" snake named Kitty, partly because it'd be funny. Therefore when I got my coastal carpet, that's the name that went to her. I hope to pair her up with a jaguar eventually and produce kittens :P

My other pets are named either after futurama characters (Morbo, Dr. Zoidberg, Edna, etc), because of identifying physical characteristics (Pongo the dalmation crested gecko, RG/Red Gecko, Sandy), or because of events (Accident).

My boys are Morris (aka. Mr. Nibbles), George, Floyd and Winston. My girls are Lois, Ursula, Shirley, Octavia, Glinda, Nancy and Mrs. Weasley.

Mostly I pick names that I find funny for some obscure reason or another. Though I figure Mr. Nibbles is pretty self explanatory.

    Re: names
I have Lemonade (albino), FedEx (het peid), Snow (pied), Bruce (mojave), Tax (lesser), Refund (lesser), Sunny (lemon pastel), Juliette (normal...and now 'Romeo'), Cleopatra (spider), Wilson (Bredli's), and Olivia (IJ carpet).

I didn't name most of them. My 5 year old son and 11 year old nephew claim that honor. lol. I named FedEx (because FedEx lost her during shipping...), Tax, and Refund. I rarely refer to any of them by their names except for Lemonade because she is my son's favorite.

As for the name 'Snow,' I actually have THREE animals in my care named 'Snow' currently- a python, a chicken, and a breeder rat. Apparently 5 year olds aren't original and if it is white or has white on it, there's a good chance it will get named 'Snow.'

As you can see from my signature mine are all named from the movie Princess Monokoe. The only exception is my husbands bratty normal whom he calls Mystic, because of his odd markings.

    Interesting names! Read each post, had a few chuckles along the way, feel like I've made a few friends and generally am bored right now waiting for the frozen pizza in the oven to get done. Oh yeah, names;

Charlotte - juvenile blonde desert tarantula
Humphrey - normal ball python (we use the term "gifted" around him actually)
Mr. Biggles or "Biggs" - Colombian boa (he'll answer to either name at the dinner bell)
Elvis - Kingsnake (when sexed if it turns out to be female, it's still Elvis, the King baby)
    Gopher - red tailed boa
Mr. Snippy or "Snips" - blood python (one of Kara's boys and those who know bloods also know why I don't have to explain his name)

    Re: names
Baby got named for two reasons, one, I figured that's what I would end up calling him anyway, and two, it stuck because he's such a momma's boy.

Spartacus the crested gecko got his name because the spikes made me think of a gladiator.

The three halloween moon crabs are named Lock, Shock and Barrel xD

    Re: names
My little girls name is Snakey Kafusu. But I call her Kafusu for short.
Kafusu means cuffs. And boy does she stand to it. XD She loves wrapping herself around my wrists. Haha. But she's an absolute sweet heart.
I did contemplate on Ormrikr, which means roughly "Great Serpent". So I think I'll use that name on the next snake I get (yes, I already want another).
But I stayed with Kafusu, because it was easy to pronounce, and it just sounds cool to. lol.

The BPs are Cu (short for Culebra) and Prospekt (as in Prospekt's March, an EP by my favorite band, Coldplay).

The BST is Sangre, the BCI is Zeezee (short for Zilveren Zalma, which is Dutch), and the rough scaled sand boa is Striker (totally random... I was in CA for 3 days with a couple of friends when I picked him up at an expo. I hadn't chosen a name, so one of my friends started calling him Striker because he is so mean. I guess it just stuck. ).

I go with movie characters, band members, artists that inspire me, and literary hero/heroines.

Carrie, Mae and Rosemary are my horror film girls, while Ash and Linda are my Evil Dead hommages.

Elizabeth, Jane, and Lydia are my Jane Austen girls.

I go with ethnic themes too... Xenia, Zsu Zsi, Magda, and Zoltan... and Rena, Shiera, Zimmerman... Rashid and Anais

Suzanne, Yvon, and Maya, are my artist friends.

Also have Allegra and Demetrio (enchi), Raymond and Rebecca (het albino), Marcel and Monic (het clowns), Violaine, Willow, and Hubert are the corns.

Alphonse is the JCP, and JD is the boa, Demonika is the King snake.

Some others are Melinda, Beatrice, Chloe and Mathilde, all named after family members.

Natasha, Naomi, Georgie Girl (Georgina), Ashley, Cassandra, Antoinette, Stella and for boys I have Prescott, Andre, Kevin, and more. :D

    Bruce

And the beardies were Buddy and Kitty

Honey got her name because I'm too indecisive and that's what I kept calling her. Thank goodness she's a her :P (we had her sexed today) because I probably would've had to change her name to Optimus Prime (my 4yr old cousin came up with it :O ) because I never would have chosen anything. Any animals I get from here on out though are probably going to be named after Big Love and BSG characters. :D

0.1 PASTEL- MEDUSA - GUARDIAN, PROTECTRESS, SERPENT GODDESS

    0.1 PASTEL- YEMAYA- CELESTIAL MOTHER

1.0 SPIDER- AKHENATEN- BENEFICIAL TO ATON PHARAOH 18 DYNASTY EGYPT

0.1 NORMAL - NEFERTITI - GREAT ROYAL WIFE OF AKHENATEN

0.1 HET ALB. - CAUTION- HISSES LIKE ALLEY CAT AKA THE BLACK MAMBA

1.0 ALBINO - OSIRIS- CHEIF DEITY OF DEATH

0.1 HET ALB - OSHUN - Oshun they see her as Goddess of sensuality, but many people never get past this first impression. Oshun is the Goddess of Love

    0.1 NORMAL - BLACK MADONNA-

Some claim that Black Madonnas derive from the Egyptian goddess Isis. The dark skin may echo an African archetypal mother figure. Professor Stephen Benko claims that early Christian pictures of a seated mother and child were influenced by images of Isis and Horus. He further asserts that the slashes on the cheek of the Black Madonna of Częstochowa represent the markings of the Eye of Horus.

    Re: names
Pastel BP - Opera - I named her that because I wanted something elegant, and after it popped in my head it wouldn't go away.

Bullet -Apricot Pueblan Milksnake- Because this thing is mean and loves to bite and dart around. Everytime I go into his cage to get his water bowl he can sometimes be under it and I have to "beat the Bullet" Or the bullet bites me.

Ceaser- Striped Cali kingsnake- Really cool great personality snake. Probably my favorite out of my collection. His winning personality the perfect blend of tough and friendly made me name him Ceaser after my Hero Eric Carr's Song "Little Ceaser" of the 1989 KISS Album Hot in the Shade.

Normal Male - Charlie (we figured it was universal, so either way we could keep it)

Normal Female - Lucy (she came with that name)

Pastel Male - Superman Kevin (the fiance' wanted a strong name, and I said, "like what, Superman?". Then he said he wanted a Medieval name, and the first thing that came to mind were knights, and the letter K. All I could come up with was Kevin, so he's now Superman Kevin.

The cats are Rainie (I love weather in general), Nabisco (the Humane Society named him cuz he's huge and looks like he eats a lot of oreos), Rhett after Rhett Butler from Gone With The Wind and Diesel after the fiance's Duramax Diesel.

Corns - Scout, Joxer, Wednesday, Betty, Eddie, Matilda, Coraline, and Dash.
