BP Internet Shopping

So I just got my first BP a little over a month ago and I am already "casually shopping" for my next one. There are no breeders in my area that i know of and i was thinking of buying one off the internet, but that just gives me some worries. Do alot of people buy their BPs off the internet and have them shipped to their house? It seems like shipping a BP would put a tremendous amount of stress on them, and I would hate to spend a ton of money on a nice morph and it be dead when I receive it. Does anyone know of any good breeders that they have bought online and shipped, or any breeders in the Cincinnati area?

Theres more hobbyist breeders just as good as the big guys. Just shop around and read each breeders Terms when it comes to shipping.

Most if not all guarantee live arrival and some offer 3-5 day health guarantees as well.

In the next month or so breeder sites will be updated with 2010 babies hatching out so keep looking as theres TONS coming.

I would love to have a fairly young high white pied, an albino, or a spider but don't want to spend more than $700. I have looked a lot on the internet and there doesn't seem to be much out there. That's good to know that there will soon be more. Thanks!

Yep give it a month or two the net will be over run with all kinds of neat stuff..

I live in Washington state and I ordered a spider female frm boas and balls and they are based in Colorado! The only thing I would change is to be notified when it got to town so I could go pick it up! I waited for like 4 hours for the truck to make it's rounds! Talk about stress! Had my pastel male shipped the same time from tsk the snake keeper and they are based in utah. Both snakes are fine and doing well... Both tsk and boas ans balls have awsome snakes.

Check kingsnake.com ball python classifieds. That is a great place to go for some casual shopping! It is always fun to see what is out there!

I just bought a 09 low white pied female for $775 shipped from Brendon Kline. I found him on kingsnake.com and I receive her early tomorrow morning. I don't know if you will find a high white for under $700 as even low whites cost a pretty penny most of the time. He has a great guarantee, and is super responsive to e-mails and phone calls. Brendon Kline also has a great positive feedback on faunaclassifieds.com under the board of inquiry section, I did make sure of that, as I have been scammed before. As long as I receive an alive and healthy snake tomorrow morning, he gets 100% positive feedback from me too. I will let you know how my situation with him goes, I'll post back tomorrow morning for you, hopefully, I can post some pictures.

P.S. If you are looking to breed, low whites can produce high whites, and high whites can produce low whites. However, if it is just to suit you visually, just get what you like.

As long as its someone with a good rep here or a known breeder like BHB etc. No problems. Many of mine were shipped. Some were purchased from online adds and then picked up from a show. A couple of my best BPs came from members right here who are just small time hobby breeders. Just do your research and you will be ok. There are many good breeders right here on BPnet. Lots of adds and banners you can check out. You'll find what you are looking for. Just be sure to ask plenty of questions when you find the one you want. Make sure they ship correctly and with a proper shipper like UPS or FedEx.

I may breed one day, but i'm still a beginner at this and don't want to rush into anything. My uncle used to breed and he said he was obsessed with the hobby. He got married though and she forced him to get rid of all of the snakes. Eh! Anyway... Thanks for all of the advice. I will definitely check out all of these leads! I've purchased most of my ball pythons online. Kingsnake and Fauna are the biggest markets. You can also go directly to breeder websites. Don't forget to check the classifieds here. :)

Well, I look at it this way, when it all comes down to it, animals don't judge. People will judge, and some will move on and never talk to you again, and relation ships can end at any time. Animals won't and can't leave you, unless you get rid of them, therefore, they are my life long companions.

Maybe a little broke too. I know if he is anything like my fiance, he'd be up craps creek with out a paddle.

I might drop cash on certain things, but I make sure the cash is there first, and that there will still be some afterward when I'm done. If it were my fiance, however, controlling the bank, we'd be broke and homeless.

I bought a nice pinstripe from a guy I found on Fauna (kind of suspicious meeting a guy in a pep boys parking lot me handing him 300 bucks and him handing me a bag lol I would have loved for a cop to stop us )

Thats not really the thing that worries me about getting a snake shipped to me. The thing I don't like is well....when I got my BP I went to a breeder/small reptile store owner and he let me hold my guy for quite a while. He was a beautiful snake but personality was my main concern. I bought him because I got to experience his good temperament and when you buy something off the internet you can't really do that. You just have to take the persons word. Unless looks is the only thing that matters to you. Then I guess you have nothing to worry about. Haha. This is MY opinion.

LOL I met a guy in a truck stop parking lot to give him a few hundred and he gave me a box! I was wondering what people thought about that if anyone saw. We stood around and talked snake talk for a long time though so it must have seemed like we already knew eachother :rolleyes:

You can always go to a local reptile show. They always have something for everyone.

No, I absolutely agree with you about temperament, although sometimes I will buy for looks. However, sometimes there is not always someone around you when you are looking for something specific. For example, I just bought my low white pied off of Brendon Kline from kingsnake.com because no one around me has any in my area.

Yeah I can see doing that. But fortunately I could probably obtain any morph I wanted in my area as I live an hour away from NERD (New England Reptile Distributors). :D

I bought my firt "morph" a Het pied male off a then mod here. He and his wife drove it up in the rain one night. nothing looks shadier than two guys and one girl sitting in a car in the rain in a deserted basball field parking lot. :D

Budget balancing or not, I never understood why anyone would let ANYONE for ANY REASON tell them to get rid of their pets.

Thankfully I have that NY outgoing personality going on so there are no surprises about what is expected later on.

My pets have always been family. And as long as they arent endangering the health of a person I am living with, they will just have to deal with it.. Or get rid of my ass :D

Lol I've been married for almost a year. My hubby is scared of snakes but i finally talked him into being cool with me having them. i have wanted a bp for years and finally got one. I'm addicted. I've been trying to talk my husband into buying me a bp for our 1 year anniversary. He wants to buy me jewelry but i would take a bp over jewelry any day!

I thought he should get rid of her, not the snakes. She was manipulative though. It started with "you have to get rid of the big ones because they will eat the baby" which i kind of understood to a point. He had a gorgeous albino boa about 12 ft long and a bunch of different kinds of balls. I would never get rid of a pet especially for my husband. He is supposed to make me happy so he should let me have all the snakes i want. Not to mention, i fix his car all the time and, no offense to him, i'm the bread winner. It's the least he can do lol.

Garrick DeMeyer has some great snakes. Thats where I got my Pastel. As for not wanting to spend more then $700 just remember that if you want a nice morph your going to have to come out of pocket a bit. Hope I helped and good luck!:)

I've bought from Garrick DeMeyer and Mike Wilbanks before. They're both really nice people and they have some great animals! As for the snakes temperment, well, I can understand worrying about it because I have too, but if you get a hatchling then you shouldn't have much of a problem.

Ha ha! There are women like us... you just have to look very hard. And if most are like me, you would have to ask what I do, or flat out ask if I liked snakes, I don't typically start my conversations out with "Oh, well, I breed snakes" just because most don't want to hear that. Maybe there should be an internet dating site, or local "Reptile club" for those people like ourselves who like reptiles, ha ha.

lol, all my female friends thing im a total weirdo for loving snakes so much. i was talking to a coworker just today and she was just freaking out over having snakes in the house. said she wouldnt come near my house lol... Oh well, im proud to be a rare breed of women that like snakes hehehe...er...

Oh, by no means am I unhappy about my hobby. I personally don't mind if others like it or not, but I try not to talk about it too much. Like I have said before in a previous post, it would be my luck I would find someone who is interested and they would break in my house and steal them all, ha ha.
