Sorry Guys, we keep mostly short tails, LOL..
Our caging is nothing fancy or impressive, newspaper, water bowl and many have hide boxes..They are apparently happy, their well fed and kept meticulously clean and for the last 4 plus years no health issues so we think we doing it right..:rolleye2:

Re: Blood setups
I have my blood in an AP T10. He's on cypress with some moss, and he seems to really be content in this set up.

Re: Blood setups
How big are those tubs? my rack has sterilite 1960 41 qt tubs and i would love to eventually own a blood but dont know if its large enough.
-
Re: Blood setups
41qt tubs are not big enough for an adult blood. They really need more width, more stretching room in length, and they're really lacking in height, too.

A Blood would only need to live in a 41qt tub for very little time until it's needed for upgrading. A large Christmas tree tub (normally found around Christmas time) is best to use for adults since they are huge so I'm going to get a couple of those and save them until needed.
Keep in mind that Bloods are at a more intermediate level and they can sometimes be pretty moody. One of my girls is nippy as hell, and wants to get me. I feel she will some day LOL. If you do get any of the Short Tail python species, I'd start out with a Borneo Short Tail python since they have much better temperaments. Care for Borneos is the same as Bloods & Sumatrans.:gj:
Now let's give 2kdime credit for my knowledge:D:P

Re: Blood setups
We have animals in enclosures from shoeboxes to 2 X 4 cages and there may come a day when some lucky ones see a 2 X 6..
-
Re: Blood setups
Right now, in a way-too-small 20qt, but the AP T10 is in the mail! (I don't think he's quite big enough for a 4', so I'm going to start out with a divider in the cage and give him some time to settle first.)

Re: Blood setups
For those of you with adult bloods in acrylic cages, how does newspaper work for absorbing large amounts of urine / feces? Lol I don't want any to seep into the corners of the cage and stink up the whole room. What about aspen?
-
Re: Blood setups
We have more than a handful and our room doesn't stink after cleaning..
Every animal is bedded on paper and if bedded thick enough absorbtion is good..:snake:
-
Re: Blood setups
Bingo, I gave other substrates a try.
Newspaper allows me to put more money into the setups, rats, equipment, etc etc....and I dont have to worry about only using 2 or 3 pieces of Kraft to conserve money, I REALLY PAD the cages down!
I like the cleanliness look of Kraft paper sure, but thats about it. Doesnt absorb for crap unless you get the real heavy weight Indented paper which I dont like and it gets expensive.

Re: Blood setups
easiest tubs that are normally easy to find are the huge home depot mortar tubs which measure 3x2. They do not have huge head room at 8" tall but they are sufficient if you keep after your water dish.
