Farewell.....
..... for now.
I leave for the Navy tomorrow, so my wife will be assuming control of our late breeders this season. She doesn't feel all to comfortable about it all so I left her with a few links to threads, websites, and a few locals contact info (thanks Jerry and Tom) so that once our eggs drop this season she isn't freaking out without me here.
We have 5 females, and a possibility of 5 morph outcomes. Here is to seeing all 5 morphs. At least 1 from every clutch: Axanthic, Ivory, YB, Pastel and Woma.
So if you all see frantic posts on here from my wife (Gtigirl) then you know why, and hopefully no issues arise while I am gone. Hope to be able to post pictures of all the eggs and hatchlings once I am available again in about 3 - 4 months.

Not to worry! We'll take good care of her here! Are you already active and going duty again or basic? I'll tell ya one thing, Navy hands down has the best chow when it comes to the military. I was USAF based at Pensacola for a while and man oh man, those made to order omelettes in the mornin'.
Mmmm...
Anyways, thanks for your service :salute:. I only wish I had stayed in. Stupid is as stupid does though.
I'm not a breeder but perhaps could help in other ways (and please - no comments, BigGunns)!

Going in for Basic at Great Lakes, then straight off to SC for Nuke School (going in for Nuclear Engineering) and after 2 years of school out to the fleet on either a sub or a carrier. I am hoping for Sub. as for food the subs get steak and Crab every week. :D

Re: Farewell.....
Congrats! Decent station to have basic at! Wow, 2 years...I complained about 6 months! And yes you nailed it - squids get the cream of the feast when it comes to food supplies. And if you get carrier based and push 72" like me, you'll learn to duck, constantly. The passageways are not designed with ease-of-comfort when going through! Just take two hands and vault yourself through.
So I take it they give you some time off in between basic and schooling? That's nice if it's the case. It wasn't with me.
As I mentioned before, I only wish I had stayed in but when your in your 20's tomorrow seems like such a long ways away and then all of a sudden you find yourself being an old washed up has-been sitting at a computer keyboard pushing 50 and typing to someone how you wish you could have done things differently in life - but the only difference is now it's too late. Stick with it bro!
Either way, best of luck and seriously speaking for all of us here we'll do our best to help out with things on the homefront with the critters and all.

Im 74" so sub and carrier will hurt my head. I don't believe I get a break for school. I am 26 so I am a little older than 90% of the new recruits, so I will get crap for it, but will also hopefully appreciate it a little more as well.

Re: Farewell.....

LOL...yeah, you'll knock your noggin' for sure! But after one or two raps to the head you'll quickly learn!
At 26 yeah, that's pretty much the old man! Just tell all of those young kids that in order to survive Navy basic all one has to do is develop an affinity for rum, the lash and sodomy! And then lean waaay over to 'em and go "Aaaaargh!" :D

Re: Farewell.....
I spent a few years out in the greatlakes area. Nice base, alittle strict, but thats good. Right outside it is crap though, if you want to go out, hitch a ride to the Kenosha area or take the train thats right outside into Chicago. They wont let you go into the city without friends though, lotta squid rolling goes in in that city.

Re: Farewell.....
Best wishes and come back safe, I have deep respect for you for what you are doing for our country:salute: And good luck with the breeders.

Re: Farewell.....
Thanks for your service turbo! You'll be in my prayers.

Re: Farewell.....

Who told you that lie?! lol
Subs get better food, but it aint that much better.
Enjoy boot camp.. I swear I wish I could go back. Be prepared to refold your underwear about 50 times a day for the sake of folding your own underwear. Nuke school is rough from what I understand, but if you make it through look forward to never seeing the sun again...carrier or subs.

As far as beds go, get ready to make some 45's. Youll know what Im talking about in 8 weeks =P
Lol I started my time in the Navy on subs as a Missile Tech. It all really depends on your CO and COB, and how well they want you to eat. The taco Tuesday thing is for real though. Hot dogs and burgers are usually Wednesday.

Re: Farewell.....
In SC now.... Glad Boot camp is over.
Sad thing is we had to get rid of all of the snakes, because they are not allowed on the military housing. :(
