Lady at work owns a bp
So she said she has owned this bp for 2 years. I told her we own one to. Told her i keep it in a tub and she looked at me like i was stupid said thats mean to keep it in something so small. So i told her he eats every 5 days just fine and sheds good. Yet again she looked at me like i was stupid told me i was over feeding my snake it only needs fed one med rat every 2-3 months :confused::confused:
She is my supervisor do i didnt want to say much... Any advise? She said she keeps it in a 60 gallon take (so she says) with just a big 150w heat lamp

She may not be overly receptive, but you could always print out the care sheet from this site. There's nothing wrong with either, but maybe then she won't think you're nuts for using tubs.
The biggest thing is that her bp may not be eating enough. You should see if she has any new pics and compare to others in the same age range.

Re: Lady at work owns a bp
People are going to do what they want to do, and I have found it is pretty much useless to try to change their ways, or minds, and since she is your supervisor you dont want to get into hot water with her...LOL

Re: Lady at work owns a bp
If it seems like she likes the snake maybe direct her here? Tell her about all the cool morphs out there and hope she gets interested enough to do some research, I can't stand people that buy animals and don't bother to find out squat about them. Drives me up the wall.

Oh supervisors. I would tell straight up she's wrong, show her why though. Knowledge is power and you can't argue facts. All my bosses are really chill and easy to talk. Maybe doing this will make ya'll closer and work would be more chill. haha

I hear ya..One time I got a mutt off CL, didnt do much research on mutts..such a shame!!!!:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Re: Lady at work owns a bp
I would just go with the care sheet suggestion. When you offer it to her, don't appear as though you believe she's wrong and needs to be taught a lesson. Just appear casual, shrug, and say, "This is what I follow to care for my ball python."

Re: Lady at work owns a bp
You can try to point her to this forum. Just try not be condescending.

Re: Lady at work owns a bp
i agree with directing her here also, and just point out what a cool and family friendly forum it is and that this is where you learned tips on how to take care of yours.

Re: Lady at work owns a bp
I would say "I'm concerned you've been given some bad advice on how to care for your snake, so I printed out a care sheet for you, from the internet. The care information available is very consistent between different sources, and I made sure it was accurate. The information comes from breeders. I just wanted to make sure that your snake will be ok, and will stay healthy for you. A lot of pet stores give out very bad information on how to care for reptiles."
Then I'd hand over a care sheet and a basic weight range estimate. It might cause problems, it might not. At least by focusing the blame on someone other than them, you might get away with it, but you know the person better than we do, and know what the risk level is.

from what you said she might not "seek" it out, but you get her to hear it from other people by asking about the bps they have for sale. you know the normal run down when your looking to buy..... whats the weight, how often is it eating, whats it eating on.. etc that way she hears it comming from several people and your not the one saying it too her. she cant get mad at you for looking to buy a snake and asking about it.

Re: Lady at work owns a bp
lol I cheap if the work place has PCs be on the sight ( during lunch or after hours knowing she will see you ) and be reading over the care sheets or something. I personally would have some pics up of a couple 2-3 year old snakes and such be morphs or not so she ca nsee how fat and happy they are when fed right.

Re: Lady at work owns a bp
You should say something to her regardless of her position. Just be suttle about it

It sucks that you feel you can't speak to your sup. about something that relates to outside of work. If your sup. gets so fired up about you suggesting something to them and fires you over it I would hate to see what happens if your lunch break is an extra 5 mins. I wouldn't worry about it most of my sups. have been either chill or somewhat chill and I don't think that you get to be in that position and go on that big of a power trip you know?
-
Re: Lady at work owns a bp
I agree with a few of the posters above. You should direct her to this forum, but ask nicely. Once here, she will likely start to realize her mistakes.

lol extra 5 mins? NEVER could i take a extra 5 mins
If you work from 8-10 (2 hrs) u get a 10 min break
Well say u come in at 9 and few others came in at 8 you only get a 5 min break while they take 10
Same if u come in at 9:30 you get 2.5 min break
