Male Rat needs a name!!
He's gonna be my breeder as well as my pet, and I'm expecting to get a female pretty soon. Just getting a bit costly every month to feed the snakes, so I finally decided to start breeding.
First I'm gonna raise them up, of course, just so my breeders are used to being handled and won't mind be picking them up to move them into other bins and such.
I've gotten some pretty good names so far from some friends, so I wanna see what you guys can come up with. I've never really named a rodent besides a mouse my sisters gave me for a birthday present when I was little. Help with naming is appreciated:D

I know it's not /too/ unique, but I instantly thought "Henry". XD

Bump xD
He is still nameless! I was thinking Scabbers from Harry Potter (Ron's rat) but I need some more ideas:P I like naming my pets.

Re: Male Rat needs a name!!
Even though mine are all Pets, I decided to name them after foods (Snacks more specifically). I thought it would be cute (considering I have the snakes) and to poke fun at the rat hobbyist a little.
Currently I have; Twinkie, Smore, Marshmallow, Snickers, Lollipop, Caramel and Chip.
I'd say, find a theme and stick with it. It's easier to name them. A good theme can be foods, favorite movie/television show, books, mythology, etc. Just brainstorm on a subject you enjoy and find out if it has a lot of decent names attached.

Re: Male Rat needs a name!!
I tend to name my rats with themes. For instance I have a female named Nutmeg. I'm keeping four of her female offspring and their names are Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme. (hubby made me do it!).
He is a cutie! I love hooded rats. Hmmm. Lets see a good name...I will think and come back.

Re: Male Rat needs a name!!
Why not do a Grimm's Fairy Tale name theme or Fairy Tales in general? Lots to work with there. A few that come off the top of my head are; Hansel, Rumpelstiltskin, Iron John, etc.

Re: Male Rat needs a name!!
I like that food theme a lot, I might go with that. I'll be getting a black & white female rat that looks similar to him except the brown is black. I'll be naming that girl Oreo:D
I was actually thinking Ron for a joke LOL:8:

Re: Male Rat needs a name!!
He looks gray/ blue, so my instant thought was Mr.Blue! Ha ha, Iknow it's stupid, but hey, I don't know what to tell you. If he is actually tan and I'm wrong about the gray, I would say name him Cinny, like Cinnamon.

He looks like a mix between grey and brown. He might look grey but when you really look at him he seems like a greyish brown.

He's a pretty little mink. I'd call him Coco or Reese. :)

Re: Male Rat needs a name!!
Okay, I see that he's brown now. I would name him Cinny or some thing.

Re: Male Rat needs a name!!
Well, then maybe Reese is a good name, like peanut butter cups.

Aww, what a cutie! I love ratties, well, not the super fat ones or the sewers. But basically, yeah, I love pet rats. :3
So your breeding two pets to get food? XD
My family has the same issue. Every mouse is named and well cared for when boarded for a few days...then...to the snake's cage. ;) It's a harsh system, but we can't help it. So far we've been also going with a theme of textured fast food :D. Fluffy Nuggets, Rough Fries, Slick Soda are a few. Choppy Cheeseburger was this week's...

Re: Male Rat needs a name!!
oh my gosh lilly that's crazy , lol. but i follow your drift.
tiffany- i was only thinking of names when i was thinking about breeding for food, but i decided i wont do that for just one snake. but now i want 3 snakes and the food bill for them will be $90 p/ month. hmmm.
if i name the feeders i'll get attached to them & then it'll just make it difficult to stick
so & so in the snake's cage to watch it die...[shakes head] :colbert: cant do that.
