    Shave Him
Shave him may not have been the best choice of words to use when I brought my cocker spaniel to the groomer.

LOL. After working at a groom shop for a few years I can safely say that yah.. you need to be fairly specific most of the time, but thats still alittle over the top unless he/she was pretty matted.

They asked if I wanted a cocker cut, puppy cut or a shave.
    I said shave him down.
Not gonna say that next time. :O

LOL.. Yah, proper response is probably the cocker cut. Unless you just want him short an fluffy, then puppy cut is good. Sometimes the cocker skirt is a pain if you dont have the time to brush it daily and theres anything remotely resembling burrs in your local foliage. -.-

He looks good to me. In the shop I work at, he'd have been shorter than that even. We tend to shave down a ton of dogs this time of year, but from the picture of before, he didn't look to have a ton of coat to begin with. So I'd guess he wasn't matted or overly thick.

But yeah.. you say shave him.. you get a clipped down dog. Gotta tell the groomer what you want, cause we aren't mind readers.

You know, I kind of like him better shaved, I would have just left the curly hair on the ears.

Better than what happened to my cocker spaniel :(

We took him to D&D's Doggy Wash... and he has more than ten cuts and slices, and five infections.

Wow, thats HORRIBLE! I'd be soooo po'd! Poor pooch! Hopefully it didnt traumatize him. Maybe you could take matters into your own hands next time. Clippers arent that expensive at all. Once his hair grows back in and you decide he needs a trim GIVE IT A SHOT!! Ive trimmed many dogs (goats, cats, horses, etc). There really isnt an "art" to it. Of course the groomers can do all kinds of fancy things with them. But if you just want a trim then just throw a guard on the clippers and go to town......lol. Once you get the feel of it, its really not that difficult. And as always, IT WILL GROW BACK if you mess it up. If you are doing it for the first time, its best to just leave a guard on until you get the hang of it, that way there is no chance of cutting or hurting the dog. All in all it will be a good bonding experience for the both of you, and you will save a few bucks to boot!!
Hope your dog gets better soon. Not sure what your using as a topical for his cuts/burns, but I swear by Bag Balm. Use it on EVERYTHING, even used it on Diaper Rash with my kids, clears it up in hours! You can buy it at any local farm supply and I think Walmart even carries it (in their brand). Good luck!!
