I know it's early, but... we just booked our hotel for Tinely Park! We've never been to an NARBC before so this is quite a huge deal!!!!!!!

Might want to have this moved to "herp events" but I am also very excited!!!!!

I don't know what I will be getting yet. Definitely another ball python.

I am thinking about saving up for something reall cool. Perhaps a pewter or an axanthic or a butter or a....I don't know yet!!

I went to the past two shows and they were great. The one in February was a little small but it didn't disappoint!

We're thinking of getting a Mojave or a Spider. Now that we have our first morph, a pastel, we're doing the whole making a wish list thing

I love the tinley show! This will be my 5th time! I'm from St. Louis so the drive isn't bad (about 4 1/2 hours). I always end up leaving with a handful of snakes - and a much lighter wallet!

The PIJAC auction is always a lot of fun as well. Lots of loud, drunken shenanigans.

Mine is October 2nd! It's nice having a birthday around the tinley show - somehow it helps me justify the money I spend. "Well, it is my birthday, might as well buy myself a present or two! Or three? Ok, well I have to have him - so four! Alright I'm done.... Nope, need that pair over there as well. Did I just buy myself 6 bday presents!?"

...It usual goes a little something like that.

I'll go with you, I'll be 25 this year! The trip is also kind of a birthday present too. Like David said, we could always get together after the conference Saturday night. I'm so excited to meet some of you guys in person!

At this past show in february, a couple of us got together and went out for dinner. It was really nice putting some faces to the user names!

What worked well was having a scheduled time to meet in the front. Everyone always tries to describe what they will be wearing and then no one ever sees eachother! Lets face it, no one is looking for your t-shirt, they are looking for snakes! haha

HAHA yep! Its gotta be a little easier for you tho. You come from the north. For those of us coming from the south its crazy because it seems everyone wants go to chicago and the burbs on the weekends. So I can be doing 80mph until I hit our wonderful bridge where the speed limit drops to 45 and if you go much faster than that your car will spontaniously fly apart since the road is so bad. Then everyone just wants to STOP just east of New Lenox and creep along all the way to Tinley. Even though the interstate becomes 6 lanes.

I wont be picking up anything new Im pretty sure but I will be going for the sights :D

For someone who has only been to a little local show - would it be worth the time and expense to drive 4.5 hours to attend the Tinley Park Show??

What do you guys think. Is there really that much to see?? How long does it take to get thru the entire show?? I would hate to drive that far and pay for hotel and only spend 2 hours at the show - again, I've only attended the little Taylor MI show so I have no idea.

If anyone can share some ideas.

    Thanks.

It is pretty awesome. The first time I went I was only there for a few hours (I only live 15 minutes away) and I wish I had stayed longer. It is really great to meet new people and there is TONS of stuff to see. Even after walking around for a few hours, I still discovered things I hadn't the first time around.

If you are interested in going, make a vacation out of it. Book a hotel for a few nights and go into the city and do some sightseeing :) I think its worth it! If anything, meeting new people is worth it!

We are going to set up a little meeting. Probably in the lobby at a certain time. I will give people who want to meet up my phone number so they can call me if they can't find me.

This is how we did it at the last show and a good 5-6 people showed up :P Then again, we didn't really exchange that many phone numbers.

I'm not going to worry about exchanging numbers now, I will forget all of these random people in my phone by the time tinley rolls around! haha

AWESOME. I only live 20 minutes from Chicago so I can easily drive home and come back the next day instead of getting a hotel.

Well now I am pumped.... but this is so far away!

The only "show" I have ever been to was the All Animal Expo in Wheaton Illinois and that is pretty small. It took a 1 hour and 30 minute drive to get there and me and my girlfriend were done looking in like 30 minutes :(

There are tons of great vendors and animals there. It takes me like 4 laps to decide what I want . And I've also learned never to go there with a specific animal in mind, lol. Last time I went looking for a female yellowbelly and came home with a male pied .

The only show I've been to is the Kalamazoo show (try every month for the last two years, haha). It's... tiny. Very very tiny.
