    will these work?
I saw these at lowes today. A friend said that the rats would chew through em at the top. Does any one use them and how do you think they will work?

I took a look at those when i was building my rack. While I agree that is the style of tub many people use I found the tubs carried by lowes in my area to be of a lesser quality then the ones carried at home depot. The brand name escapes me at the moment but the ones at lowes seemed thinner and more brittle. The best ones I have seen are by a company called Tuff stuff I believe, but they are expensive.

the ones at my lowes are 12 bucks and weak, but the ones at home depot are strong and work well and even have a hole in the front of them that i ran a dowel down and it lock the tubs in the rack............cost 4 bucks.

they can chew through the home depot tubs too, but it all depends on the RAT.if you have a chewer like I had they can chew through just about any tub.the rat i had chewed through the morter tub, and then through a sterilte birthing tub!!, needless to say her and her babies are snake food.......:gj:

p.s I screwed a piece of mesh screen over the morter tub hole and its o.k now:gj:

ok i just built one of these and sold it, the tubs at home depot where 5 each they were 19.5 x 27.? x 6 inches somewhere in that area and it held 1.4 with comfort but i removed the babies asap or usally moved the momma to keep her from being prego back to back
