Seller telling u to buy CHEAPEST item lol
Hmm you ever wonder how people stay in business when you email them asking for advise on what to buy? And them emailing you back telling you to buy the cheapest because its actually best for YOU and not THEM. It amazes me :gj:

Your asking their "opinion" their giving it. Many people feel just the opposite of that imagine you email me and tell me you have 500.00 to spend and want to get the most bang for your buck.. I tell you that it's to buy a female lesser platty, you bite and out goes the lesser. Now three months later you find out that you could have gotten 1.1 Pastels and 0.1 Spiders for the same price.
Which is better for your collection? Only you can decide that.
P.S. Tactful up-selling is an art that car dealer's, plastic surgeons, Cell phone and computer company's have perfected. Many people lack the ability to honestly "up-sell" a customer. If someone tells you that a female Lesser is your best bet ask them "WHY?". If it feels like they are feeding you a line then go a different direction. After all your not being forced to buy, you're simply asking their opinion.

Yea but alot of the time people trying to sell something will tell u to buy the most expensive thing just to make $$ :P

Re: Seller telling u to buy CHEAPEST item lol
It's the dollar store theory. They can get lots of people to buy cheap, and they end up making more than just selling a single more expensive one. The best part is that if they sell you the cheapest thing, they also gain your trust, which is probably worth more for the business than the single purchase.

Btw im referring to rich from RBI.
Im normally used to people trying to sell me the most expensive item telling me its best for me when its really not ;)

Re: Seller telling u to buy CHEAPEST item lol
Or, they may just be very honest, and they're giving your their opinion on what is best for you.

This can also be a down fall.. People that only move the less expensive stuff many times have to because they haven't done any form or marketing at all..I'm not going to spend 1500.00 on a snake from some dude that no one for 500 miles has heard of, cause all he's ever been able to sell is normals wholesale..
Marketing and customer relations are the two biggest things that I'd say 85% of the small-just getting started breeders fall victim to. Either they have no clue how to market themselves and their animals or they forget that they are engaging in a business transaction and it shows.
How many people have bought animals and had the breeder call them or email to check up on their purchase?
Customer Service!!!

Well I'm a little different kind of customer than the average everyday buyer..
One of my best buying experiences was with Ron Tremper. Thought there was a huge mix up, and Ron instantaneously jumped into customer mode. I've never had a breeder jump to try and fix a problem so quickly.
I'd buy from Ron again in a heart beat.
I try and check up on customers at least once sometime with in 2-3 weeks after they get the animals.
Side note. I buy from friends and people I know so they don't avoid me.. *Eye's Wysocki* no matter how hard they may try.

Aw, I suppose I'll have to start doing that call back thing eventually, lol. I'm just afraid they're going to say 'well, I had this question, the other day he stuck his nose in the corner, and was pushing on it, and I wonder if he was trying to exercise his neck, is there anything I should do to give him a workout?"
...and so on.
Personally, I see no reason to 'upsell' a person automatically. If they're happy with their purchase, they'll remember you, and get more later. That's the most important part.
BPs are like Lays potato chips, you can't have just one. I know of few people who buy a morph, and then never buy more snakes. :)

Your going to get those questions.. and its part of being a knowledgeable keeper/breeder. Your going to get the questions like "can they eat potato chips" and "why does he hang on when I pick him up". Your willingness to answer these questions will stick in that persons mind. Your going to have people call you with my snake wont eat, and I've had him for 6 months and now he has an RI what should I do? It's all part and parcel of the whole genie gig.
There is no reason to automatically "up-sell" no..but if you ask my opinion I'm going to tell you a Male bee is a better buy than 1.0 Pastel and 0.1 Spiders. I'm going to tell you just buying a male het is a waste of money..I'm not going to "up-sell" everyone some people come money in hand and know what they want and that's fine..But if I can help stretch your dollar as far as I can I'm going to..

Re: Seller telling u to buy CHEAPEST item lol
I know, Freakie, but I want to avoid having people actually phone me with those questions for as long as I possibly can. If I call them, they get my number, lol.
And, absolutely--but those are honest upsells. In some cases, a person really would be better off with a less expensive animal, because it better meets what they want. I can't bring myself to upsell in cases like that. I think they'll be happier in the long run if I do not, and they'll be more likely to return.
