Re: San Mateo Expo 2010
I haven't had much luck in finding many shows in Northern California. Just San Mateo and Sacramento. I can't remember exactly how I found out about the Sac one... It might have been through CL, or the banners that they randomly post on telephone poles.

That's the Sac show

Re: San Mateo Expo 2010
Homework kept me home, unfortunately :(. I heard there were black bloods aka Sumatran short tails, though. Did anyone get pictures of them? I never get tired of seeing those.

Re: San Mateo Expo 2010
@SGB 74, that little one you bought is definately not a pastel boa, and its in a pathetic little cup...:rage:
i personally wouldnt have bought that animal, also very small for the age
within two months he/she's one year old and at the size of a baby....

i dont think Dave Colling would advertise his animals as one thing and they end to be something else, especially with all the expertise of other individuals at the expo, he would be called out on false advertising his animals. heres a link to the sire and dam of my purchase, if he isnt whats labeled on the container then would you lend your expertise and tell me what he is exactly?

I dunno, if Dave sold it as a pastel, it's probably a pastel. But I know next to nothing about boa morphs. :P And yes, it is relatively small for an almost-yearling, but not so much that I would worry about health. They all grow at different rates.

Neither do I! (Just have a look at my sig! ;) ) Shorties are the greatest. :D I saw a bunch of reds, but unfortunately I couldn't find any blacks or breits. There were probably a few that I missed.

You know, after seeing a litter at Global Captve Breeders (they mispell it on their site and banner), and seeing your animal, I've come to realize I must not know what the heck a pastel or hypo red tail boa is. My salmon hypo to me, makes sense that she is hypo, she has very salmon/pink colored sides. GCB had received in trade a litter of "hypo boas" - but when another fellow and I were looking at them, we saw nothing that indicated hypo to us.
And looking at your animal, I don't know what makes it (or any boa) "pastel." Who can enlighten us on this one? :)

it has been confirmed by Dave who sold me the animal and by the boaphile himself that he is in fact a pastel, may not be one with the best coloring but none the less a pastel he is. and just about every snake on display was in a deli cup so i dont see what the uproar is about. its understandable that you personally wouldnt have bought him, but thats your personal opinion. i on the other hand felt as though he was and is a fine specimen so i purchased him. :D

Cool! Did you get from them what makes the snake a pastel? And about the snake being taken home in a deli cup, that's totally a non-issue. He has enough air in there, and snakes don't have phobias of being in snug places, most like it - as demonstrated by using hides that barely contain them. :)
And that breeder was displaying his animals in the acrylic display containers, which I believe were about 2x the size of that deli cup, if not larger. Perfectly sufficient for displaying at a show and transporting home. :)

well when speaking with dave colling from Rainbows-R-Us he states that the sire to my male is a pastel motley and the dam is a coral albino, so thats how dave came to the conclusion that my male which i purchased from him is a pastel het for coral albino, then there was a user which came in and stated that my snake wasnt in fact a pastel so i took my post elsewhere and had the "pros" give me some input, and one of the post i got from the boaphile is ...
http://i44.tinypic.com/160y4v8.png
you pretty much cant argue he's not this or that anymore, if the guy who defined what the pastel boa "look" is comes in and says "yes he is a pastel" then what more do you need? he also gave me a little insight as far as conducting my business with the breeder and not taking it public which i can understand, but i was looking for an instant answer from other users being as though i was told my male wasnt this or that in the late night hours so i couldnt just call Dave up and talk to him about it, although i did email him and he cleared everything up as well. although i still dont know he was able to tell. i see everyone saying that pastels dont have speckles/freckles or any black, i thought if an animal didnt have black that would make it an albino? so to answer your question do i know what it is that makes him pastel, no besides the fact that his father is a pastel motley also; Dave mentioned that some people use the term "pastel" to define pinks, orange, and peach colors which is what i thought of at first...

Re: San Mateo Expo 2010
As I pointed out to you on the other thread and the other site, you bought from one of the most stand up guys in the business. You knew that when you checked the BOI.
Then a bunch of people who you don't know and who have no stake in this start throwing in their $0.02 and you begin to doubt your deal.
There's a lesson to be learned here:
(1) If you think some one has done you wrong, talk to the person instead of dragging his name through the forums and affecting potential clients. In the time it took to make all these posts you could have called Dave and discussed your doubts.
(2) Some people on this and other forums tend to run their mouths when their brains are off. Just because someone has an opinion doesn't mean it's a valid one.

Re: San Mateo Expo 2010
Boaphile sent that message across in his PM, so please cut the guy a break. No need kicking a dead horse.
Also, it might help to take yourself back to a time when you might've felt you were shafted or given the short end of a stick - its much easier for a person to get defensive or panic in that kind of situation.

leachie female
If so, LLL Reptile had at least one of these geckos. I believe priced between $599-799 at the show, I forget. On their site a female is $799. Probably is the same one, it was about that size.

Aw, really?? I must've missed them. I was asking around at all the gecko tables, and people generally seemed to think that there weren't any at the show.

No - that message was posted on a public forum, G., not a PM. Jeff spanked him publicly for the thread he started on RTB. I've got a lot less sympathy for the OP than I do the innocent guy who he all but accused of scamming him
There was no need to panic. There was no need to bandy the breeder's name across two forums. A simple phone call or e-mail to the seller would have sufficed.
