So who got an iPad?
I haven't even gotten to play with one, but it looks like fun. I know there's no flash support for the browser, but it still looks like a good browsing experience. I saw a demo of the Marvel app and it looks killer.

Re: So who got an iPad?
I've survived without an iPhone...so I don't foresee myself making this unnecessary purchase...

Re: So who got an iPad?
Electronic gadgets and necessary seldom go hand in hand. The sure are fun though:)

Re: So who got an iPad?
went and looked at the iPhone 3GS. I'm about to look at getting it.. As for the iPad, I don't see myself getting it.. I really dont see a use for it yet..So No I don't see myself getting one.. But and iPhone Oh yea that is a must!

Re: So who got an iPad?
Not an expense I need. I know a couple people who have one though!
I'm just not sure what I'd ever need an Ipad or Iphone for. They say I can read books on it, but I'd rather just read the book.

Re: So who got an iPad?
the ipad is simply a novelty device. It does nothing the iphone or ipod touch can't do.
Right now, it is useless :/

Re: So who got an iPad?
I'm a gadget junkie. I don't always buy them but I love researching that kinda stuff. I'm way more of a phone addict than anything else.

Re: So who got an iPad?
I am a proud owner of the iPhone... I don't know how I survived without it.

Re: So who got an iPad?
My main turn off for the iPhone - AT&T.
I'm pretty brand loyal, and I've been with Verizon since 1994 (I actually signed up with Airtouch, which was acquired by Verizon). Verizon's been good to me over the years, so I don't plan to change carriers any time soon.
I am looking at the Android though....

I'm a big Android fan and I prefer a great Android device over the iPhone. The HTC Nexus One should be out for Verizon in a month or so. That's one sweet device.

Re: So who got an iPad?
I just gotta say I don't need all these weirdo features on a phone. It's a phone it makes calls. Thats what I need. the bluetooth thing is nice but other than that it seems a waste to me.

Oh good - I'm due for an upgrade (I can upgrade yearly, as a VIP customer). Do you have a link for that one?
Also - are you a Howard Forums geek? I usually check out phones there and Phonescoop

I am actually. I spend way too much time on Engadget, Phonedog.com, Howard Forums and Palm Pre Central. Like I said. Geek;)

Re: So who got an iPad?
ok I take it back. I think that for some one that travels it would be great. having the ability to watch moveis and tx shows on planes and in hotel rooms would kick butt.

Re: So who got an iPad?
Yeah Ed, that's pretty sweet. You can do that stuff on an iPhone or iPod Touch, but there's no comparison to the iPad as far as screen quality or size.

I just hate it doesn't have a keypad - the only reason I'm considering the ugly Motorola one! LOL

i got a iphone thats enough for me

Re: So who got an iPad?
The Droid is a solid phone overall. There's also the HTC Incredible coming to Verizon soon as well and it's insanely nice.

Re: So who got an iPad?
I had an ipod touch and it wasn't all that great.
My brother has a HTC Mytouch and I really like the feel of it. The only bad thing about it... Not multi-touch. =(

Re: So who got an iPad?
Androidforums.com Tons and tons of info there, it's run by Phandroid.com to boot. I have a Droid (Verizon fan here) and LOVE it. Verizon will be adding a few new Android phones in the months to come...the Incredible is highly anticipated, as is the Nexus One.
If you are at all techy you will be hooked, Android FTW! lol

Re: So who got an iPad?
Android is definitely the future of Smartphones and Tablets. My favorite OS for mobile phones is actually WebOs found on the Palm Pre and Pixi.

Re: So who got an iPad?
Complete waste of money, why would you want something that ackward of a size? Its not small, but its not huge, i would probably break it accidentally.
I have the Samsung Moment and i love it to death. The android market is definitely growing and i like my android better than an iphone anyday! I have 3 keyboards on my phone and one of them is a physical one.

I would agree with the tablet, but not smartphones. With the new winows phone 7, (as dumb as that sounds) the integrated media players on the iphone (clearly the ipod) and the windows phone 7 (zune) kill any media player on android. I have had an HTC dream which I traded for an iphone and hated it quite a bit.
If you want touch screen, iphone/touch is the way to go. Apple has that down with the multi-touch etc. With the iphone os 4.0 coming in June, (which includes multitasking), android won't be going far IMO.
The iPad, as much as I hate to admit it, looks very nice for someone who reads books and travels a lot. I am debating getting one, just not completely sold on it yet, need to see a bit more.
All biased opinions, but I think people should check out the new iphone OS.

Re: So who got an iPad?
My dad got one. Really cool, really cool. The iBook app is pretty awesome. and very fun to use. But also not practical unless ya have a good desktop.

Re: So who got an iPad?
Oh believe me there's a Windows Phone 7 device coming home with me on launch day. It won't have the mass appeal that Android does because it's not as open. The dev teams will probably help with that though. Zune HD is the nicest music player around IMO. I'm excited that it's built in to WP7.

With yea on the windows phone 7 I think.. I've had an iphone for 2 years now and I'm looking for a change!
Haven't tried the zune players yet but I'm interested in them, especially with the new ones just released. Microsoft is competing well with Apple and I feel it's in a good way. People say it's too late, but I don't think it is personally.

Re: So who got an iPad?
My husband and I bought one on opening day and we will most definitely be buying a second one. We LOVE it!! :pinkele:
We travel a lot and it's great for that. We can put tons of books, movies, and games on it. The battery life on it is amazing. I'm also a dog trainer and I tend to carry around a lot of paper work and books. I was able to put them all on the Ipad and consolidate all my stuff. Which has been awesome.
I have always preferred a Mac. I use a Windows lap top for my contract work and I hate it. We have always liked the way Apple simplifies things and how their user interface is always nice. That and my hubby is a Mac dev. :P
But anyways, we love ours to death. It's been great for us and we're very pleased with our new baby. :D
Edit: And for those who are worried about not being able to use flash... Most web sites are using the new HTML 5 video element. The only web site that uses flash video that I haven't been able to use on the Ipad is Hulu.com. Apple tends not to support flash do to the poor performance.

Re: So who got an iPad?
My BF wants something like the iPad, but doesn't want to support Apple. He's a google guy  He says he's waiting til theres more on the market to choose from. I would love one though. We tend to travel a bit, but not a lot. So it would come in use.

I am curious about it but I do not see my self getting one, unless the price is right or I begin to have more spending money. Flash is the biggest

Google Blackra1n by Geohot. I have my phone jail broken and love it. I have AT&T because that is who I have always had so I don't use it to change the carrier (which you can do) but I do use it to customize every aspect of my phone. I can use it as a 3G WiFi hotspot tethered with up to 5 laptops, I am posting through a connection on my iPhone right now. I love the iPhone 3Gs and do not see myself getting anything else anytime in the future.
