All my snakes either sleep in their hides or smushed in the back corner of the tub.

I doubt they are uncomfortable if that is how they choose to sleep.

My het for Pied female flips her waterbowl upside down and sleeps with her head on top of the waterbowl. It's like she's using the waterbowl for a pillow.

I've stopped trying to keep water in her bowl. I give her fresh water 3 days a week and then only for a few hours. She drinks, then I remove the water and put it back in her tub, upside down for her.

    They are some interesting animals!

Ive got a couple that sleep with their head straight up and angled funny along the side of the tub. I have one that balances herself on the tiny ledge where the latch use to be for the tub lid. Im not sure how she does it being as fat as she is but I just figure they do whatever they think is comfortable lol

BG doesn't know if you've heard this yet, but they've invented heavy water bowls. They're called Crocks.:P:P

Nope, nothing but Stainless Steel for my snakes. Too many chemicals in the making of these ceramic bowls. Just my opinion.

Are you making a stand that when those bowls were made it was bad for the environment(can respect that)....or do you believe chemical residue from the pots is bad for the snakes(don't understand this one)?

I don't know if there are any issues while making these bowls. But I do know that S.S. bowls are safe. So, I only use stainless steel. Cleaning is much easier and don't have to worry about cracking if dropped, so S.S. is for me.

    YMMV,

Yeah all you have to worry about is your bowl being flipped which has made you only give them water 3 days a week. Of course when Fish and Game raids your house they'll have you on the news stating you had no water for your snakes. Don't think for one second that couldn't happen....not for one split second.

BG thinks he told the story of how they stated someones hatching baby balls were just "left to die in the incubator with no water". BG now adds water bowls to all his babies as soon as they pip....and so does his buddy.

    OK...but don't say that BG didn't warn you.:P:D

To be perfectly honest though....they would confiscate your animals if they ever decided to raid your PRIVATE residence if your animals did not have water. BG is always looking out for his fans.:D:gj:

Trust me Mr. Gunns, finding my snakes without water would be the least of their worries. Remember, I don't like large government intervention into my personal life, nor home.

    Have a great day!

I have a solution to your problem. And it's been approved by the most spoiled snake ever invented. Pressed or cut glass bowls. They come in all sizes. I use the big serving size for my fur family. You can usually find these in thrift stores with or without the sterling plated rim. You must pick something with a completely flat bottom. Any curvature or legs will tip over. If you can't find any at the thrift stores. Maybe go to a Dollar Store and look for a cut glass ashtray. They are heavy shallow and wide and good for a small snake.

All the etching is on the outside so you can easily clean out the inside with a wipe of a paper towel. And since it is substantial it's very unlikely you would drop it.

Also make sure it's not leaded glas. It can leach into the water. They usually are heavier and have very sharp cut facets and will give a musical like 'tink' when you tap it with something metal. Not a 'thunk' like with regular glass.

Please get something for you snake. How would you like to want a drink and not have anything except when scheduled by someone else.

    Here's some examples

    Interesting thread.

I personally cannot differentiate in any of our snakes between when they are just "resting" and when they are actually "sleeping"!
