It is a very good thermostat. I don't use it personally, but it is a good product and I know many people who have been using them for years with no problems.

Another comparable thermostat would be the herpstat. I think that one is a little more popular than then helix.

nd stands for night drop. It allows you to program it to lower the temperature at night.

nope :) Some people will use it during breeding season, but even then it is not necessary.

The standard Herpstat is so well known in the Chondro community that most of us use them on our incubators. I've got mine tuned in nicely that there is only a .2 degree swing.

herpstat II can regulate two different temperatures with the same unit.

I have 2 Helix controlling 3 different racks and they work wonderful so far. I also have the night drop adapter but I havnt used it yet. I didnt need it this season. All the snakes ovulated and bred without it. My incubator is controlled by a herpstat and my varient is less than one degree. My boaphile cage stack heat is controlled by a Ranco double thermostat. This one seems to have the biggest varient of any of them. Up to 2 degrees but the cages are so well contained it does not affect anything in a negative way.

I have not had any problems with any of them. I dont think it really matters which thermostat you use as long as you set it correctly and the probe is adheared directly to the heat source.
