    Petco pic contest 2
Yah know. This pic contest gave BG an idea. People are always complaining about the deplorable conditions that reptiles are kept at Petco. This gave BG one of his many brainstorms(has them 24/7):D. Big Gunns thinks that's exactly what we should have. A Petco pic contest. Although what we do is take pics of the lousy reptiles and how they're being kept at Petco. If we post all these pics all over the net.....starting here....then maybe they'll get the message.

So people. Get the cameras ready and go to the local Petco and start snapping. Make sure you get a good pic and name the Petco you went to including the manager. Somehow Big Gunns thinks they'll get the message that Reptiles should be taken care of just like their cats.:taz:

BG will say this though. There are a couple of Petco's that BG goes to in a couple different states. Both honestly do keep their animals in good condition.

    Hi,

    Just to state the obvious.

You should check if the store allows the taking of pictures to avoid getting into trouble.

yes. BG, I used to work at a Petco. They didn't allow anyone to take pictures. They would ask you to put your camera away or leave.

You could get away with it at the petco by me. I've never seen more than two people working, no matter how busy it gets, and the one time I went there for mice and crickets it took an hour. Most of the time there's only one person working a register. Boy, would I love to get some pictures of the condition of their reptiles, talking to the manager several times seems to have had no affect :(

I'm a former associate as well and it depends on the manager, and that is only if they catch you. The reason they say no pics is cuz of their "trade secrets," Petco sucks they need to be shut down, they put baby dragons and geckos on sand and most of the time their snakes are never handled and mean. I support this project!

So you take the pic and then leave. What do you think they're gonna do have you arrested? Yeah that would be great for business. Just wait until nobody is around and start snapping away. It's not like it's gonna land yah in jail you wimps.:D

Just a leetle FYI for yah. BG raised Baby Dragons on sand and never had a problem. It is what they live on in the wild yah know. Now Calcisand is another story. That will kill them real quick.

I think he was talking about Water Dragons, which would really scare me.

A Petco recently opened in my area and a friend of mine got a pic while he was visiting. He said he counted 26 babies in one enclosure. :weirdface

BG doubts he was, but where do you think "Water Dragons" live? BG was at Australia zoo and guess what was all over the park....sand..... and Water Dragons. It was pretty cool actually...they were running all over the place.

People worry that babies will get impacted, but if you use the correct sand there's really no problem. Like BG said, it is what they live on in the wild.

Hold on a second. Your friend took this pic and didn't get arrested and taken directly to jail? Lucky him huh.:D

I've taken pics in various pet stores and never been given a second glance. Most of the time, I'm getting a pic of something I want to show to someone back home and get their opinion on it. Usually it's a coral or fish, but still... same principle.

Big Gunns bets that if we do this and get pics from all over the country..... one of our good buddies(the media) will pick up the story.

I haven't been in a PETCO in years, but if they are still the same there is nobody in the reptile section anyway.

Sand is probably the #1 thing bearded dragons are kept on. Never had a problem myself.

Petco does not carry australian water dragons.

They do carry chinese water dragons.

It is cool though how at the Australia Zoo the aussie water dragons just run around everywhere like they own the place, it made me think of "scaley squirrels".

Big Gunns has been to China...and guess what....there's sand there.:D

It reminds me of when people ask "is this a Spotnose"?(greatest ball name ever) ..... just because their ball has a "spot" on it's nose. Just because it's called a "water dragon" it doesn't mean it can't live on sand.

    Hold on a second. There's a fish that's called a "Stargazer". Shouldn't they live in the sky?:D
