Hello, another GA BP owner...
I have been lurking at the forums for over a week now. I picked up my first BP a couple weeks ago. We named him WALLE, which I was/still not digging but my wife said it was a must since we have another snake named Eve.
We also have some other reptiles, a RTB and a couple leopard geckos. Our initial fascination with reptiles started with a corn snake we had. Unfortunately he wasn't meant to make it but we gained a huge respect for all snakes.
Anyway, you don't care about me, ON WITH THE PICS!
This is WALLE

Speaking of the geckos, WALLE likes to roam around my computer desk and sometimes goes near the geckos. Lily will come up to the side of the viv and chase her around. Lily doesn't seem to be stressed by it, and does not exhibit any defensive behavior. She acts like a little dog trying to get out the front door, it's cute. I may put an end to it though.
WALLE ate for the first time last night. I got him from a breeder that got him in a trade. I noticed that he had a hard time eating the mouse. I feed f/t and he had a great feeding response, but I let him sit in the feeding tub for about 10 minutes and then he lost interest. It's like he couldn't figure out how to eat it. Tried most of the time to get it down sideways and then by the butt.
So after he lost interest, I picked the mouse back up with the feeding tongs and tried again. Another fast strike and coil but grabbed it by the midsection again and tried to eat it sideways. He stirred around and tried a few different areas but didn't try the head. Again, he lost interest and I gave him about 20 minutes this time. By the 20 minutes, he was just trying to get out of the tub. I decided I would try a smaller prey another night and not try and stress him to much so I went to take the mouse out with the feeding tongs and I dropped it. STRIKE, right to the head, the second it hit the ground.
That mouse was gone 2-3 minutes later. I imagine he will learn to find the head, eh? Maybe I was just being impatient or use to my boa.

Re: Hello, another GA BP owner...
Welcome to the world of bps.
Ya, sometimes young ones will have a tough time finding the head. Just gotta keep trying until they catch on better. You can also heat up the head really hot and offer it so that they will strike at it better.
Good luck.
