I promised I'd update on his growth back in January, and he's been growing so fast since I switched him completely to live (he was very hit or miss with f/t) so I thought it was a good time. :) I love this little guy, and he's the perfect subject because he doesn't move!

There's 3 different species of snakes that people will commonly refer to as Blood Pythons.

There's the authentic Blood Pythons aka Red Bloods

There's Borneo Short Tailed Python aka Borneo Pythons

Then there's the Sumatran Short Tail Pythons aka Blacks

This is a Black aka Sumatran Short Tail Python

Thanks everyone! The contrast of the eyes against the black is one of the things that really swayed me over to the Sumatran short tails, though I love reds and Borneos, too!

Thanks Pandp and Tiffany. I really have to give a big thanks to Jordan again for producing this guy! :D

He's been a really laid back sweetie except for that one time he had a bad shed. It was his first shed with me, and I guess I didn't have the humidity high enough because I had to help him with it (his most recent shed was 100% perfect, though!). He was so mad at me and didn't cool off for a week. At least I got cool pictures out of it! You can tell how much thinner he is in this picture, too. I was still trying to get him to take f/t back then, but I'm going to wait until he is a little bigger now.

He is a stunner for sure! When I eventually pick out a Black blood to buy, yours will definitely be a model by which I choose.

    And which Jordan produced him?

Jordan Botto, and on here his username is Rodentslayer. I think he is out of blacks for the season, but maybe he'll put the parents together again. :) You can try PMing him on that.

He looks great! Im glad you are enjoying him and no I won't have another clutch until next year. Im giving the female a year off to relax, although she was rubbing scent glands all over her enclosure during breeding season. I do have one more male though. :taz:

People often confuse me with the other Jordan in Georgia that breeds Breits. Pretty funny b/c a month ago, I had one guy call me and thought he was talking to the other Jordan. :colbert:

Babies we've hatched and grown had straw colored eyes with orange veins and as they grew the orange took over giving them an orange eye with the black pupil...:snake:

Yeah I wonder if there is something different going on with the light yellow eyed ones. Alot of people seem to get those out of their clutches. Its a bummer that they change to orange.

Ah but the orange with the black is just sooo nice. :D

Crazy4Herps, yep! Adorable little teeth. I'm glad he didn't use them on me heh. He didn't even strike; he was just yelling at me haha. The open mouth actually made it easier to help him peel some skin from his lips/chin, to get that edge on it. He was very well behaved despite being uncomfortable. :)

He's in deep blue right now... I hope he's this shade of steel blue in the morning so I can get some pictures in the daylight. He looks so cool! And I can't wait to see his shiny pretty self when he slides off this old skin.

I believe they actually got elevated to individual species status.
