    Will this Co2 Tank work?
    http://www.pntball.com/items/item.as...LAID=412602469

Will this tank be able to be modified to have a on/off valve for a euthanasia tank and if so, what kind of valve (name/size), would I need to get?

Thanks so much for any help!

It will work, all you will need with this is a coiled remote like this http://www.pntball.com/Items/3509860...%20QD%20ON/OFF

So with the tank and that coiled remote is there anything else needed? Therefore, you just need to attach the remote to the cooler and then it should be good to gas??? :D:D:D

    You need a

    CO2 canister
    Coiled Remote
Kill tank (Container where you place your feeders)
    Small container (to put water)
    Airline tubing

Thank you sooo much Deborah for the details and pic...

Please forgive the stupid question, but why the other container, tube and water?? And is that website a good place to pick-up the canister and coiled remote? :):):)

Great! Thanks so much. I have everything but the remote. I will order one today!

pandp, I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong), is that the oxygen in the kill tank will get pushed out into the tank with water and it disperses in there (along with Co2) so that you aren't breathing in Co2 while you are gassing your rodents.

FWIW when I was gassing rodents, I never had any kind of recovery tank deal like Deborah has set up.

I always knew that CO2 was heavier than air and would fall to the ground.

    Just my 2 cents:salute:

Easy refills at any paintball shop.

Possibly even a sporting goods store or wal-mart that sells paintball equipment?? Anyone know? Any paintballers out there get CO2 refills at sporting goods stores/wal-mart?

Awe man...Thanks for the ebay heads up...Already pulled the trigger and picked up the things from the website...

However, Richard's (shortened version, since the real name will get censored) sporting goods does refills for $3.99 for a 20oz bottle...For me that convenient cause it's walking (granted a long walk) away...That was one of the deciding factors in taking the leap and getting the gear...

I picked up 20oz tank and the remote for 41shipped fedex. And i may buy co2 in bulk as it costs like .50 to fill your own when doing bulk.

What do you mean by buying bulk?:weirdface

Re: Will this Co2 Tank work?
Bulk means buying a large tank filled to fill smaller tanks. To do so you need to be equipped with a fill station hookup and digital scale so you dont over fill the tanks.

itll cost more at initial setup and filling, but only costs about .50 per 20oz fill considering the 3-5 at stores.

My CO2 canister is smaller, (but now I need a bigger one  ) and I now that our local welding shop (where I BOUGHT the darn thing) is out of business, I have to drive 45 min to the fire extinguisher business, and they'll refill it for me.

Just remember to flow it SLOWLY! Otherwise there's too much CO2 all at once, and you're actually causing the ratties pain. :( You want them to SLEEP first, then, asphyxiated.....Sadly, the first time I did it, I did it wrong. But I know better now. Gasping is too much, too fast. :tears:

the second container, water and tubing is supposed to prevent any air from going back into the kill container.

CO2 is heavier than air , so it settles on the bottom , and when you fill the container it forces the oxygen out through the tube , the water creates a seal so the air can't go back up the tube.

Another good source for CO2 is your local "gas" supplier. Not the gas company, but the local company that supplies oxygen, acetylene, welding gas, etc. They will fill large bottles at their place. They will even rent you a bottle.

It should all co2 tanks are same size attachment/fill stations along with same threading. Be sure to ask seller for more detail on it.

No one can answer that at all. Goes by how MANY rodents you doo weekly or monthly. I pay 3.40 per 20oz tank fill up. And i get over 1 months use as i feed mice live, only use it for rats.

Yep, nice and slow will keep them calm during the whole process...I might have gone too slow and possibly wasted some of the gas, but for the maiden gas, I couldn't have been happier...:gj::gj::gj:

Okay, this is the remote I ordered. I don't think it was quite the same as the others shown since the assembly looks twice as long.

    http://www.pntball.com/items/item.aspx?itemid=76378

This is the one I got. I tried it today and it didn't work. I hooked it to the Co tank and it leaked out the main on/off valve. Couldn't feel any air coming out of the other end of the hose. Rats were quite happy in their kill tank. Not the effect I was looking for. Anything I'm missing, or do I have a defective remote coil?

    Thanks!

I get a good couple of weeks of use before I need to refill. The C02 definitely goes quick if you need to feed off a lot of rats.
