Where can I buy a thermostat?
I think the heating pad for my snake is getting too hot and I need a thermostat. What kind of thermostat should I get and where can I find such a thing?

i only have two snakes right now so i use the reptitemp 500R. it works great for me. it fluctuates by 5* and i never have to mess with it. it depends on how many snakes u have

x4 -- what a great investment. It costs a little more, but well worth the quality and reassurance that your snakes' temps are spot on, and that they aren't going to fry!

I got all caught up with all the herpstat excitement that I forgot to add something very important.
Yes, your heat pad probably is too hot!! You should hook it up to a dimmer (available at Lowe's, Home Depot, Menard's) immediateley, or unplug it until you get a thermostat! It would be better to have a snake that is too cold than one that is cooked (imo).
Also, there is no reason you should "think" your heatpad is too hot -- you should know. You need to have thermometers monitoring the hot and cool side of your enclosure. You should never have to guess, and you should know the temps at any given time. You can pick up an Accurite at Wally World for about 10 bucks. It will tell you your warm side, cool side, and humidity all in one unit.
Good luck!
