looking for info on how shes acting...
just thought id throw this out to you see what you think. my snakes been staying in her hind just about alll the time for id say last 2 weeks, ill handle her and seems fine. not as active but still ok, when i put her back. shell drink water and go back in the hide. she shed um.. friday, ate a small mouse saturday night, would have ate another but when she bite at it, she hit the tongs and i think it scared her. but still sticking to that same pattern. i just wanted to see what everyone might have though.

its normal for ur BP to hide most of the time. its a good thing. if it is out all the time roaming around then u need to worry because something is stressing them out. i think u mean it is acting different cuz at first it was always out checking out its new home. now that its settled u should hardly ever see it. u r good on that part

was the shed 1 complete piece or did it come off in pieces and did any stay on? when ur feeding just try to feed one appropriate sized prey once every 5 or 7 days and let them go digest.

Are you using a UTH as well as the light? With a tank that size plus a light I bet you're having some humidity problems!

Other than that, sounds like you have a happy snake! The less you see of her the better! :gj:

She has just settled in! They hide all the time! The half log hides aren't very good for bps! Opeings are too big and they like one small opeing! Good job on the rest of the enclosure!!!

i have a uth under that pretty much stays off for the most part. what you see on top is a ceramic heater. thats pretty much what heats the tank. the light is a floresant 18" on the inside going across the back. i wouldnt say any humidity probs. look how big the water bowl is ... stays about 50% and its still been chilly around the area. when it warms up humidity is higher around here . yes herpstat 2. i go out of town alot, and i really like my snake sometimes ill be gone 2-3 days.. last week i was out mon-fri.. i feel ok knowing the temp will be fine. it works awsome....

i think my tank set up was um.. just under 600

just to let u know belly heat is MUCH better then the above heat. You should use the uth before the che

Edit: Also they say 2 identical hides one on hot side one on cool side. That way ur bp doesn't choose security over comfort

reason i dont use the uth is i have it in a bed room on top a dresser. i was worried about the heater getting to hot and starting a fire.... or something i dont know .. i was going to see about getting something to put between it. not sure what yet

raise the tank off of the ground. Like bottle caps in all corners for example. And the max it should get is 95* and thats MAX. I have mines sitting on wood nothing at all :) Trust me 95* is not as hot as you would think its warm :)

As long as the snake is getting the proper humidity and heat it shouldnt realy mater if its uth or over head heat. As long as one side has a cooler side and the other a basking spot.

I think it does matter if belly heat is better then over head heat. I mean if u can supply the belly heat then u should. Imo over head should only be used to raise ambient temp

ok i have the belly up temp up now, only thing about that is the temp probe for that is on the outside the cage on top the uth... just how the cage is made. i just have to find the rigth temp setting on the herp2. i got a new hide she seems to like. http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._2295994_n.jpg

Do you have a probed thermometer to measure your temps inside the enclosure?

To clarify, your herpstat probe should go on the outside bottom of the UTH.

I would think about getting her another hide like that exo terra rock hide you have and only using those two. Place one right over the uth (your hotspot at 90-92*) and place the other on the opposite side (your cool side at 80-82*).

You can put the other few hides in there as well, but she shouldn't have to choose security over thermoregulation.

it has 2 probes for controlling 2 things. one prode is on the inside back corner of the wall getting the air temp, and thats controlling the ceramic heater on top the cage. the other is on the bottom of the cage right above the uth on the outside the cage. the cage is notched out for the probe to fit there. its 1/2 think cdpvc.

Yes but are you using THERMOMETERS with probes to measure temps in the cage? More specifically, inside the cage above the UTH.

the probes are thermometers. one is the cage. other is outside ... kinda... also have a digital thermometer over the area the uth is with a humidity gauge on it. and i have a non contact thermometer i use to check all over the cage with pretty regular. i found you on facebook and tried to add you. hope you dont mind.
