That's right near where her vent was, but like I said earlier when I opened up the tub he moved up a little bit.

I don't think it's quite a lock, but he's getting the idea! :D I'm no expert, but I've noticed the boys often stick their tails up in the air, and/or wrap around the females - like this:

In my limited experience ( this is my first year, but all my males are awesome when it comes to getting the job done ) the picture you posted is what my males do about an hour or so before they actually get her locked. I think they're just tickling the females to entice her for copulation. Sort of a courtship.
I think I'm pretty lucky. In the last month I've recorded 25 locks from 3 males to 8 females. I hope all my 09, and 08 males are as productive as my guys that are breeding this year.
