    New Norton/McAfee virus
Hey guys and gals I just got a call from a friend of mine, he caught a new virus that is specific for Norton and McAfee Anti-virus software. He took it to a computer shop here in town and they say that it just came out this week and Norton and McAfee can not detect or remove it. If you download something like AVG (that is what I am using and what we use on our servers at work) it is free and it will catch the virus.

On with your regularly scheduled programming

Miss out on games that are found only on PC's???!?!

Mac's are able to partition part of their system over to do what is called "Bootcamp". This enables you to download all the PC specific stuff you want.

I've got a MAC and will NEVER go back to a PC

Exactly. I've been running Snow Leopard and Windows 7 for some time now on my Mac and couldn't be happier. There is something to be said for having a 4 year old computer running two operating systems that has never even frozen once.

    x2

why spend 2 grand on a computer to run windows, when you could spend 1000 for a similar computer (often times better), or drop 2 grand and get an exceptional computer.

the only thing I'm super impressed with is macs ability to run a EVGA 285 gtx as well as all the other components off of a ~300 watt PSU.

    THAT'S impressive.

PC stands for Personal Computer, not "windows".

Sorry, pet peeve of mine! :P

I run linux and windows 7. All of the programs I need for school only run on windows (ugh) and I would rather not spend thousands of dollars on a pretty computer with an mediocre operating system that I would just have to partition or erase anyway. Also, the games for windows are pretty amazing, especially if you have an awesome graphics card :)

    I use Spyware Doctor 6.0
It's been getting rid of all of my virus and detecting EVERYTHING. I hope it can detect this new virus.

I almost always use run Snow Leopard but for my engineering classes I need to use Solidworks, Mastercam, Matlab etc. That's where 7 comes in. Each operating system has its strong points and weak points and depending on what I am doing I am able to pick the one that best suits my needs.

EDIT: Back on topic. Thanks for the heads up on the virus. Always good to know when those things are going around.

Most viruses are written against Norton/Symatec/McAfee because they are the most popular. I was advised to use Kaspersky for that very reason and am very happy with it. I have a Mac mini too but never liked it. It actually had more problems than my HP or Dell, lol.
