Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!
Why is your ball python in your car only a day after feeding? As far as finding them. They can squeeze their way into some pretty tight spots. They can get into the mechanics of your seats, into your dash, etc.

Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!
check under the seats first. on the way back from the vet my wife would let her crawl on her lap, one day she kinda dazed out or whatever and the snake was under the seat sleepin

Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!
Turn your car on. Put the heater on high and hope he comes out before he cooks. With the cold most of the country is experiencing his meal could rot before it digests. If you do turn the heater on, keep checking regularly. Don't do this in a garage with the door closed.

Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!
i just got him today, and didnt know he had eaten until i asked what he was eating. its 60 degrees outside right now, is it likely his meal will rot? how long does that take?

Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!
and i already tore my car apart looking for him for the last hour or so.

Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!

Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!
i just had this happen with a baby boa..
look EVERYWHERE. get someone who knows cars and how to take apart certain pieces. If you know where he was when he got out, start there.
I ended up finding my girl inside the passenger seat gears that control the arm rest. If my friends who knew cars weren't there i would have NEVER found her. Granted, i have a Nissan and apparently they are held together by locking plastic pins (???) but it was useful to have someone there who knew how to take the car apart and put it back together.
For future reference, always SECURE reptiles in snake bags or taped transport deli cups. I hope you find him.

Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!
he was sitting on the passengers lap, and i guess he sneakily got of her lap?

Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!
Sounds like you've done all you can do for the night. The heating pad with the hide might work for you. The coolness of the night might drive the snake to look for that warm spot. The hide should be small and dark...not just a half-log that some people use. If that's all it is, or if it's big compared to the snake, try just laying a crumpled towel or small blanket over the heating pad....they like to feel like they're crawling through and hiding in tight little rodent burrows or termite mounds.
Another trick you can try is to sprinkle flour all over the seats and floor of the car. If the snake moves around at all in the night, it might leave a trail you can follow to find its hidey hole.
If it's not there in the morning and you still can't find it, I'm not sure what to tell you. I know I'd be really scared, and scared to drive the car anywhere at all. :( But I also know that folks have lost snakes in cars and had them reappear days or weeks later alive and well.

Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!
You will find him when you start smelling a funky skunk coming from your A/C vents.

Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!
Know any dogs who take an interest in snakes?

Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!
I've said this before. Try a cat or a dog, they can hear it/sniff it out.

Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!
Same thing happened to me a while ago. The good thing is, we learn from it. Mine crawled behind my glovebox. Look there. You might need to take it off to find her.
You might want to try a mouse in a box. If it's like most pet stores she is probably still hungry. Good luck! I hope she's ok.

Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!
if you haven't got a dog/cat, find a friend with one. they'll find them quite quickly, IME.

Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!

Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!
Any luck?
If you're in the Chicago area you can PM me. My fiance is a mechanic and may be able to help search, no charge. ;)

Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!
Oh man, that's a really really bad place to lose a bp. I hate to say it, but I would put money on it that he already found is way out of your car. There are are large spaces under the dash that lead outside that a bp could easily fit through.
Good luck though! I'm sure you're planning not to make this mistake again, but next time you travel with a bp make sure it's at least in a knotted pillow case.

Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!
I lost a large corn snake in my car for nearly a month, and found her alive and well inside the dashboard - I actually changed her name to Dash because of it, LOL. So if there's any way you can get up into the dash/console, that's a likely hiding place... it's dark and warm, just as they like it. Oh, and they can go literally months without food and water, so they can survive in there for a LONG time.
Here's Dash where I found her after 3.5 weeks:

And here she is just a few days later, still perfectly plump!

Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!
P.S. I finally pinpointed her location when I smelled snake poop, and followed it to the center console... keep your nose peeled for that distinctive stench! :P

I also had an escapee once that climbed up the temp probe wire and squeezed out next ot the probe wire ( baby cron not even 40 grams I bet ) found it on far side of the trailer and how it avided the dog and mom's ( then 12 cats) I don't know since it was a snow corn.. on dark flooring .

Re: HELP!!! lost my 12in BP in my CAR!!!
I had this happen to me a while back after a vet visit, my bp managed to get in the dash, into the fender, through the sideskirt, and into the quarter panel. Then back all the way into the engine bay where I was able to pull her out from behind the battery.
Good luck
