Just getting back into snake ownership, this is my first Ball Python, a Pastel I was able to get for a great price from a local breeder...Pictures aren't too high quality, just iPhone camera shots for now...First picture is pretty soon after hatching, others are more current, and his set-up. I was able to get the tank with all supplies at a local thrift shop for $25, then grabbed some tempera paint and blacked out the back and sides. Looking forward to taking advantage of the site and all your expertise!

Good looking animal. The only thing i would do differently is look into an under tank heater and a thermostat/rheostat!

    Enjoy that nice ball!

Have a UTH on the right side, lamp is low power, mostly for lighting not heat...averaging right around 80-90 on the hot side

Oh and in the front left of the tank you can see a Accurite that gives me temp readings on hot side and cool side, as long as humidity

Wow, I absolutely LOVE his pattern!!! Congrats!! You know now that you've been bit by the bug and you'll have more within a few months :P ... you'll sell your soul (and everything you own on Craigslist) in order to get more haha. Err....at least that's how my life goes.

I'm already on the hunt...albino male would be my next realistic favorite and I've been hearing of them for as low as 350 shipped...

If not a ball, I've been researching bloods, but I've heard bad things about their temperaments and don't know if I want to bump up to that size...That or the tree guys...but again, i've heard their snappy and I enjoy handling...I know red tail boas are popular but I don't think I want that size...

Set-up is also an issue...My one ball has a 20 gallon glass tank to himself, and I don't really like the looks of a tub/rack set-up even if it is a great style...Would love to find a two story enclosure...some people mentioned brands vision and one other not sure...

But yes, I already have the bug. Going to a reptile show here in Tampa in the morning, called the Southwest Florida Exotic Animal Expo, it's a monthly deal...

I was looking at bloods too and then had the same reservation. I read they can have bad temperaments and with kids around the house I'm not sure I wanna go with that. I thought about just getting a pair of them though. Still debating.

Anyway, yeah people do say the vision ones are good. Here is another good company that is pretty new, but their stuff is absolutely gorgeous!!

Maybe you can find somethin through them. I do believe they do custom too, and definitely feel free to email them. They've been nothin but nice when I dealt with them :)

Anyway, yes, Albino = awesome choice. I just got one not too long ago. GL in your hunt!

Nice setup, what a spoiled snake. It looks like a Graziani Pastel, but do not expect him to look as good as he does now, in a year or two.
