For all of you with ultrasound machines, where did you get them and how much?

Has it improved your success? Can you upload any pictures from the machine?

I am just extremely curious how this science came to be used in reptile breeding. All input is greatly appreciated. :salute:

The first one I bought was off e-bay. It was an old medical machine. I think I paid $5000 for it. It has had some problems and getting parts has been very expensive and hard since it is an old maching.

I got set up to bring in the Ultrasound set up for veterinary use now and selling them for $2700 with the foot pedal. I like the smaller unit better since it is portable. The Sloans bought one and Robert Sieb, and the guy from reptile radio also got one.

As for what it has done for us. Knowing when the female is in her prime time, and when she is done, helps me put the males in when they are needed. I waste less time guessing and more time knowing.

Yep we got ours from Lynn, and ours comes in handy for the same reasons Lynn said. :salute:
Also I recommend getting one from Lynn, they are great machines!

Do any of you guys have pictures of the machines in use? What the actual picture looks like? Are they the standard machines or thewer 3D technology?

Heres some crappy pictures of our ultrasound in use. You can see the follicles lined up at the top.

By the way those pics were taken with a camera. You can attach it to the computer, but we havent done that yet.

I helped Lynn with a couple boas on sunday. I must say the only thing cooler is seeing your own child on an ultra sound.

If you're into buying high-end males, an ultra sound would be an amazing investment. It would allow you to stretch your males much further by plugging them in at the right times.

Information that can maximize your clutches:

    http://lavenderalbino.com/Ultrasound.html

It used to be that older breeders thought that the female was throwing slugs because the male did not fertilize all the eggs. It's nice to finally have more information!

I have an older machine too, paid 1,200.00 for it. It's so old that I can't upload pics with it, a lot of the capabilities have been disabled:tears:. I am thinking about upgrading.:please:

Thanks for that link. I really enjoyed this quotation "Last year we got 16 clutches from a single two year old male, and this year we are pushing the possibility of getting 20+ clutches from a single 18 month old male!"

    Wow.

Since I know people make typos, it's easy to ask the person a question and get a more lucid answer.

I had help and other eyes looking over my site. I know it's extremely difficult to catch every error, when you are reading for content/context and you know what you mean.

You sort of start assuming other people will know what you mean, too.:)

P.S..using the Ultrasound, I have gotten 9 eggs more consistantly than not. My problem is I don't like waiting too long..and giving eggs a chance to possibly reabsorb..it's a timing issue.
