He is quite docile, unless he is hungry. I moved him out of my rack system a while back and into a vision cage, then he became extremely cage aggressive, but i kept working with him, and now he doesn't even care that i rip the hide off him, and grab him.

Forgive me if this is an obvious newbie question, but how big will he get? And how long will it take him to get that big?

He is a Yellow.
There are 4 types of Annies.
But only the Greens, and Yellows are in the pet trade.

The large anacondas are, the greens.
Males aren't that big, its the females.

Re: He is just so snuggly
He's a real beauty. He feeds on rats I suppose? do the yellows ever graduate to rabbits or are they fine on rats? Also f/t or fresh killed?
-
Re: He is just so snuggly
My yellow eats rats, chickens and small rabbits. I have a female, and she's 4 yrs. old soon and around 9 - 10 feet.
Fiend - Nice pics.

Male Yellows don't need to ever switch to rabbits, not that he wouldn't/couldn't eat it.. its just they never usually get that big.
Females will eat a smaller rabbit no problem.
He is feeding on 2 F/T small rats.
He could eat a medium, but we have a tooooon of small rats right now.

Re: He is just so snuggly
pretty snake but I can see my mother if I told her I had a con lo.. she upset with the redtail boa I have here cause she thinks the cats are a meal when the dumb furrballs go into the room and start to mess with her cage. I know she will eat about a 2-3 lb rabbit but I don't give her too amny of those meals since it a large mess to clean up lol..
I keep telling mom I gonigot get a burmese if the area cats keep appearing in te house for food. I ment it This was not a cat drop off point for the world strays. I not a cat hater but It after 3 they become more of a invasive spieces than anything. I found cats in my truck frame hitching a ride to a fire call many a time over the years. they bail as I shut the truck off and run to the building ( and the guys laugh as it bolts to the woods ) once of these days it be a a engine cleaning ( shutters at the though )

Yeah, my mom hates that i have a anaconda...
Just the word anaconda makes her worried.
She is a GTP gal herself.
How olds your son?
Im 18, and have been working with giants for a few years, some really aggressive ones too... (Not my giants, my dads and friends)
Snuggles will be one of my largest snakes, and at only 9 foot, that's saying alot... He isnt even quite a giant at 9 foot.
Im into Ball Pythons mostly, But Annies and Retics are more addicting than most would think.
For how much i love giants, i am afraid that i wouldn't be able to care for them as much as they need, thus why i stay away from buying them in my personal collection. I don't want to live by myself, having to clean out my adult retic, or burm, or annie, or any other giant cage alone.
I fell for Anacondas when i was playing with a 6-7 foot greenie.
But, even small yellows... arnt for everyone.

They have some people that should get one, as I know they would be a good candidate for one.
I won't mention any names of course.

Re: He is just so snuggly
That's one of the nicer yellows I've seen. Not being a huge snake guy these are about the only thing that gets me out of the Morelia and arboreal boa forums.
:gj: Keep posting pics as he gets bigger.
