Who cares about Olympic Hockey?
I was considering this weekend how many people in Canada and the States actually care about the Olympic Hockey?
Did you watch it? Do you know who won? Did you know the olympics were on?

Re: Who cares about Olympic Hockey?
Turns out that it was the MOST watched broadcast in Canadian TV history. 16.6 million, about 50% of the Canadian population, on average, with 26.5 million watching some part of the game.

Great game!
It could have gone either way but Canada looked stronger this time around.
I will always go for the USA but I am very happy to see anyone in any country kick butt..
USA needs to be proud they placed where they did.

Agreed, the American goalie should be proud, he did an awesome job!

Re: Who cares about Olympic Hockey?
I would have loved to see the US take the gold after beating a STACKED team Canada. I was pretty bummed when they lost in OT.

Re: Who cares about Olympic Hockey?
It is true, we did have a stacked team. We make up over 50% of the NHL and generally have a large large chunk of the best players. In some places in Canada, EVERYONE plays hockey, like you go play a little floor hockey with some random old guys, and they are ALL incredible. It is just a deep part of our culture, for which we are very proud, especially when it comes to our wealthy powerful neighbours to the south. I don't know why but any chance to beat the states at anything just feels so right, somewhere deep in my bones it just feels right.
Hahaha.
I guess not a lot of people are looking at this poll who do not like hockey.......we'll see if it gets some better response as time goes on.

More of an NHL fan but I will watch Olympic hockey.
I'm glad the regular NHL Season is back on. My Flyers and Thrashers kicked off there first games back with great starts.

Ok, ok, curling is also one of 'our' sports. Yes, it does lack the edge that more intense sports provide, but you gotta play it once or twice to appreciate it fully. I think Canada won that too....(maybe just for mens).

Re: Who cares about Olympic Hockey?
Actually, this was the first Olympics that I really got to see it. I had heard it mentioned in previous Olympics, but only saw short clips of it. At least now I have a basic understanding of the game, but I still don't understand the scoring. Here, the NBC network was the only one showing the games and one day the announcer said,"Today, we'll be bringing you curling all day. That's us, NBC, Nothing But Curling." I almost fell off the couch laughing. For the record, I think the most brutal hockey game I watched was Russia vs. Czech Republic. Seemed like a little bad blood being settled there...
I would like to fling one of those curling stones down the ice like a bowling ball... call it Hurling...

Well, that is definitely not like the game of "Hurling" we used to play when I was a kid growing up in Texas. It was also known as "Biscuits and Pies". Basically there would be 2 teams and you would hurl biscuits and pies at each other. If you got hit in the mouth then you were out. The last team remaining would win. No, I'm not refering to biscuits and pies, as in food. Think about Texas, horses and cows. Let's just say that I learned to wash my own clothes at an early age, since my mom refused to do it...

Re: Who cares about Olympic Hockey?
I always thought the game of hurling was played after a long night of drinking. :8: :P
